- WHO'S WHO Wednesday, August 14, 2002 Harry Kewell Club: Leeds United Shirt Number: Position: Forward Date of Birth: September 22, 1978 Birthplace: Smithfield, Australia Height: Weight:
Profile: Rated by his club chairman, Peter Ridsdale, as being worth £50 million, the 1999/2000 campaign saw Harry Kewell pick up the PFA Young Footballer of the Year Award and the Leeds United Player of the Year gong. Having sprung to the attention of the nation during the 1997/98 season, Kewell's performances during 1998/99 brought him to the attention of a drooling collection of admirers, who drooled even further in 1999/2000. Sydney-born Harry was originally given his debut in the 1995/96 season, as a 17-year-old, and after a pre-season injury to Lee Sharpe was able to become a regular part of the side two years later. His pace and trickery, confidence and eye for goal have made him into a player who can play at either left-wing or up front. Given all of that, Leeds fans were celebrating when Kewell signed a new contract in August 2000.

Teenager well schooled to follow in the footsteps of Kewell and company. "Leeds United are really popular out there now and a lot of that is down to Harry and how well he has done.
"It is good that there are a few Aussies about the place but there's no clique at the club or anything like that because everyone just mucks together.
"That is the best thing about the place realy because there is always someone to pick you up if you are a bit low."
While the majority of United's other trainees arrive from across England or Ireland, Cansdell-Sherriff has moved thousands of miles to start a new life. The youngster has worked his way up through the ranks, featuring in the club's youth sides, and lives alongside the other trainees at United's Thorp Arch hostel.
His duties including the regulation of cleaning up after the senior pros as well as the daily grind of training sessions.
