Biographie
Alberta, played three seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), part of the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League (CHL). He was also a Silver Medal winning member of Team Canada at the 1999 World Junior Championships in Winnipeg. Stuart was an exception to the general consensus that defensemen need a few years before they can make a big impact in the NHL. His rookie season 1999-2000 saw Stuart play in all 82 regular season games, and lead the San Jose Sharks defense in scoring with 36 points (10G. 26A). Stuart finished second in the voting for the Calder every regular season game for the second time in his career. He also increased his offensive output from the previous season, scoring 29 points (6G, 23A). He was first on the team in hits, second in average ice time, and second in defensemen points. The 2002-03 season was a year plagued by injuries for Stuart. He missed a total of 46 games because of a concussion, the flu, ankle injuries and a contract hold out. Stuart managed 14 points in only 36 games. Stuart regained his top form during the 2003-2004 season setting career highs in assists 30, and points 39. He led Sharks defensemen in every offensive category. Stuart helped lead the Sharks to a divisional title and a semi-final berth in the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals.

CNNSI.com's David Vecsey tackles three issues from around the league:
Can we get a recount in the 2001-02 postseason awards? Jarome Iginla
Ian Tomlinson/Getty Images/NHLI It was exactly one year ago that Jarome Iginla 's coming out party began. He ended October as the NHL Player of the Week with four goals and seven assists in four games, and then racked up 12 goals and six assists in November to claim Player of the Month honors. The next few months would see him score three goals in Salt Lake City en route to an Olympic gold medal; lead the NHL with 52 goals and 96 points to win the Maurice Richard and Art Ross trophies, respectively; and claim the Lester B. Pearson Award as the league MVP as named by the players. With apologies to Frank Sinatra, it was a very good year. Iginla is singing a different tune this season, having scored one goal in 11 games heading into Calgary's Thursday night date with the Rangers. Overall, he has just three goals and 10 assists in 16 games. Iginla could be feeling the pressure of now being an "established" star, with defenses concentrating on him and teammates looking to him for the big play every night. In the interest of honesty, I've only seen Calgary play one game this year -– that being Monday's 2-1 loss in Atlanta -– so I cannot claim to break down any mechanical issues he might be having. In fact, I can say that he was Calgary's best player on the ice that night with at least three solid scoring opportunities that were snuffed out by Thrashers goalie

Regular season finale a winner
Stuart ties game late with a pair of goals
4/4/04 - by Mike Lee
The Sharks regular season finale on Sunday was a meaningless contest to them and the visiting Los Angeles Kings. At least that's what it appeared to be for 59 minutes of regulation. That all changed in the blink on an eye, after Brad Stuart scored two goals in the final 20 seconds of the 3rd period to help pull the Sharks back from a 3-1 deficit. After Stuart tied the game with 2.3 seconds remaining in regulation, Vincent Damphousse capped another improbable Sharks comeback with an overtime goal to cap an incomprehensible season.
