Having not spent as much time on a bike in recent weeks as he would have liked due to bad weather at his home in South Wales, Lee's performance showed that he now has the consistency to gain the results that his talents deserve. "Day one wasn't too bad but day two was much better. Having Paul Malin on my minute really helped as I was able to follow him on the tight checks, which made things a lot easier. On the test things went pretty well too, especially on the last two test of the second day. I'm happy enough with the way the weekend went."

Chris Simon.....Come On Down ! Friday - July 25, 2003 Well now, just when you thought there was nothing but silliness to read about, Slats goes and does actual hockey work. Former Cap and Hawk, Chris Simon is now a NY Ranger. Now Richard Scott was also signed so one could speculate that Sandy Mac is a goner. After talking with various people on this.....I'm not getting the feeling as if this is a big signing.....but I am convinced that Slats has a plan and that he's methodically building the team he wants to field.....and I hope that includes Mr. Leetch. I now return you to your regularly scheduled silliness....created by our very own Rodent, Here is a representation of the serious discussions that take place around here. Free Chris Simon! Friday - October 31, 2003 This offseason, I took a lot of criticism for an article
I wrote that praised the signing of Chris Simon. I'll quote a few of the comments: "You might be the only one who thinks the Simon pickup
is a good move." "There were better ways to spend a million dollars, and
Simone wasn't one of them." "If you think he intimidates anyone anymore that too is
misleading." "You really don't know what you're talking about, do you?" "Go put yourself in a duffel bag filled with rusty razor
blades and salt, and then toss yourself into a rat-infested
sewer while listening to Abba." Well, ok, I made the last one up, but the others are legit. Vindication! Simon has accomplished everything I hoped he would already. He's dropped the gloves willingly in convincing style, a
direct contrast to a recent Boston Globe article where the
coach explains that Sandy McCarthy hasn't dropped the gloves
because he's smart and trying to pick his spots. He's thrown game-changing hits. In addition to the hoopla
of whether the hit on Cole was a penalty, few made the

Troy Crowder went into the NHL with a well-earned reputation. Crowder was as tough as they come during his juniors years. He made an immediate impact during his first full-season in the NHL bloodying legendary tough guy Bob Probert and then going on to put down many other challengers. The hockey world was abuzz about the new heavyweight on the scene and the anticipated rematch with Probert.

Frantisek Kaberle Power Play Points, Assists
Atlanta, D
Percent Owned - 35.1% Why you should pick him up: Kaberle is spending more time on the power play, which when teamed with the likes of Ilya Kovalchuk, has translated into 6 Assists, 4 of them on the power play, and he sits at a very impressive +5 for an Atlanta team playing with defensive responsibility.. To put those numbers into perspective, he is tied in points with elite defensemen Nic Lidstrom, Rob Blake, Chris Pronger and Sergi Gonchar, and has shown himself to be the Kaberle to own thus far. Why you shouldn't: The tragedy surrounding the death of Dan Snyder has quite justly shifted attention away from the fact that this young Atlanta team has been playing over their heads. Kovalchuk is a phenom, but phenoms can be shut down if they represent the only scoring threat for a team. The well of points could dry up suddenly, and with it Kaberle's utility.

A Nice Lockout So even if the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, they still won't make any money
So I'm no economist (although I played one for three seasons on WEBSTER ), but maybe player salaries aren't the only problem with certain teams.
How exactly could the Penguins make money? If the players paid to play? If they charged $500 a ticket? If they sold their own pucks to visiting teams? If they put a toll on both blue lines?
I'm just trying to figure out finance.
I don't know. Maybe I should start with my checkbook. Posted by Steven Ovadia on Thursday, September 15, 2005, 06:40 AM Who Misses Mess? Are you ready to hear the dirty little secret about Mark Messier?
You're going to be shocked.
Seriously. If you're pregnant or nursing, I'm going to have to ask you to stop reading. Also, if you're under 5'2", my lawyers are also telling me to turn you away.
OK.
Good.
Are you ready?
The dirty little secret about Mark Messier is that a lot of New Yorkers don't like him. Now obviously I don't have the data to back this statement up, but I will tell you that if you talk hockey around New York and bring up Messier, you hear some interesting takes on him. Some people blame him for splitting for Vancouver in 1997. And then coming back three years later. A lot of people see it as a jerk move, like his only concern was a nice fat, paycheck.

Important Information re: Change to Stick Rule posted on 24-07-2005 at 16:29:27 by redscousemouse The FIH Executive Board has confirmed that in the 2006 Rules of Hockey the depth of the stick bow/rake will be limited to 25mm.
For international hockey these rules come into force from 1 January 2006.
The Board of England Hockey has discussed this equipment specification

Round Six Wrap
A sad weekend for the MAGUTS as we lost all four games and did not score for the last 250 minutes at Concord. Thirds led SW Strikers 2-1 with just seconds remaining before halftime, thanks to penalty corner goals by Chris Seletto and Jussi Jumppanen, but they scored a soft individual goal on the bell and we crumbled in the second half to lose 6-2. Our first half was easily the best hockey 3rds had played this year - against a team that is cleaning up the opposition. 2nds then had a shocker, losing 6-0 (5-0 at halftime) against a fired-up Strikers and having to endure some appalling decisions. Strikers are well and truly the benchmark in 2nd grade. We remain in outright 3rd spot with a game in hand against winless Easts. 1sts then had Tex to thank for keeping the score 0-0 for 50 minutes or more. But the Strikers could not be denied and eventually won 3-0. Last year we started up an annual trophy between us and Strikers and having lost on aggregate 4-2 in 2004 we are already 3-0 down with six games to play. (LET ME SAY THIS ABOUT HOW I SEE THE COMPETITION LOOKING IN 1ST AND 3RD GRADES.

Duty Roster for the 2004 Season
IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CAN'T DO YOUR ROSTER YOU MUST ARRANGE A SWAP WITH SOMEONE ELSE - THEN EMAIL ME TO ADVISE WHO IS DOING IT. Roster duty is only for 1.5-2 games and allows you the second half of the preceding game to prepare for your own match. eg A 1st grader on duty will do all of 3rds and the first half of 2nds, a 2nd grader on duty will do the first half of 3rds and all of 1sts, while a 3rd grader will do all of 2nds and 3rds. Roster for 4ths/5ths means one of you umpires. All Premier B players have 2 days of roster, with most 1st and 2nd graders also having 1 day of roster for 4th/5th grades. DRAW CHANGES: Three teams have pulled out since the fixture books were issued so there may be further changes to the draw. In particular 4th grade is highly likely to play in our 3rd grade timeslots in Round 7 (Sat May 22 at Penno at 6.30pm) and Round 16 (Sun Aug 8 at Ryde at 10.30am). 5th grade has a bye. Please await confirmation. Also, 5th grade may end up playing its Round 5 game on Sun May 9 at Ryde at 9am. Again, pls stick with the attached draw until further notice.

Every season has a game or two that defines a club's season. In recent campaigns the Flames have had many a tough loss to point to when the dust cleared on yet another fruitless season of no playoff hockey. When this season comes to a halt in just less than a month, the Flames could very well be fondly casting back to two huge victories in Denver in the last 20 odd games of the season as the reason their fortunes changed.
