HOME NFL MLB NBA ... World Cup OTHER EXPERTS: Select an Expert General Golfing with the stars Story Tools: Print Email XML Shawn P. Roarke / Special to FOXSports.com Posted: 44 days ago Sometimes, we take for granted the athletic skill of those that we watch on a regular basis. One of the many gifts professional athletes possess is the ability to make the most complex tasks appear effortless. Never was this more clear than on a beautiful Friday morning at the gorgeous North Course at the Lake of Isles golf facility at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. There, several past and present stars of the National Hockey League were on hand to take part in the Pucks, Putters and Poker celebrity golf tournament. Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro and former NHL defenseman Jeff Odgers study the green. (Shawn P. Roarke / Special to FOXSports.com)
"The pads are getting smaller, so I had to get bigger," said DiPietro, with a laugh. As part of the newly ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement, the size of goalie pads has been reduced by 11 percent almost across the board. Fortunately, DiPietro says that rollback will have little effect on him as his pads were always on the small end among the league's goalies. But, while DiPietro is champing at the bit to get the 2005-06 season underway, Friday was more about enjoying a perfect day on the golf course while raising money for various charities in the process.

In order to ensure payment for use of recreation facility rentals, the following steps will be adhered to:
      1. The customer will first contact the Recreation Department to determine the area's availability.
      2. Once it has been determined that the area will be available for their use, an Application for Complex Area use will be filled out by Recreation Department.
      4. Once the customer has been issued a receipt, the number of the receipt will be entered on the application and the application, along with three (3) copies, will be placed in the Security mail tray so that they are informed of the area's use. One copy will be put in the Recreation mail tray. Security wil ensure other departments (i.e cleaners, boiler room) receive a copy of the rental form. 5. Security will then let them into the area of rental at the time entered on the application form. When reading this, keep in mind that some of it is old, and that the addition of news has absolutely nothing to do with chronological order, or current events. At times, it doesn't even have anything to do with reality.
Avs open a can of whoop ass on the quacking twats o' anaheim
It's been a fairly flying game, which I haven't actually been paying attention to (mostly mulling over code, though I did catch the wicked Yelle goal, which should be pasted all over the hilight reels). The big news since last I updated:
    • Ozo is back, and they've been winning ever since! Oh, and a correction, he was giving up the puck in his driveway in Latvia, not Lithuania.
    • The Russian Rocket has landed! It's about bloody time, I say. As expected, the Canucks look like they got the shitty end of that particular stick, especially with Pavel's 6 goals in 3 games (and an assist last night).
    • Sakic didn't get invited to the allstar game! Ridiculous. At least they gave him player of the week, but no one can possibly have a good excuse for Sakic's abscence (nor the abscence of Rod Brind'amour). At least Sakic would've tried to hit the targets, which is much more than I can say for one player.
    • Potvin finally got moved (yes, it has been that bloody long since I updated this... then again, it's more like talking to myself than anything else ;), and the leafs got, get this, Brian Berard. No, not the Brian Berard that drives the Zamboni in Calgary, the calder trophy winning defenseman. Aparently, the decision to move Berard had a lot to do with his off-ice performance... obviously, it's much better to have a goalie who can't buy a win, than a young offensive defenseman with tremendous potential. Strangely, Mike Millbury resigned as head coach of the Islanders not long after.
