A Nice Lockout So even if the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, they still won't make any money
So I'm no economist (although I played one for three seasons on WEBSTER ), but maybe player salaries aren't the only problem with certain teams.
How exactly could the Penguins make money? If the players paid to play? If they charged $500 a ticket? If they sold their own pucks to visiting teams? If they put a toll on both blue lines?
I'm just trying to figure out finance.
I don't know. Maybe I should start with my checkbook. Posted by Steven Ovadia on Thursday, September 15, 2005, 06:40 AM Who Misses Mess? Are you ready to hear the dirty little secret about Mark Messier?
    You're going to be shocked.
Seriously. If you're pregnant or nursing, I'm going to have to ask you to stop reading. Also, if you're under 5'2", my lawyers are also telling me to turn you away.
    OK.
    Good.
    Are you ready?
The dirty little secret about Mark Messier is that a lot of New Yorkers don't like him. Now obviously I don't have the data to back this statement up, but I will tell you that if you talk hockey around New York and bring up Messier, you hear some interesting takes on him. Some people blame him for splitting for Vancouver in 1997. And then coming back three years later. A lot of people see it as a jerk move, like his only concern was a nice fat, paycheck.

The Convenience and Selection of Online NHL Hockey Card buying

These options guarantee you'll always have a pleasant experience. How many times have you gone to a card show on the weekend, only to find nothing or little to buy? Canadian Hockey Cards wants to show you an easier way to meet your hockey card collecting needs. We also carry a modest selection of baseball cards at discount prices. With a minimal amount of planning, you'll always have your first choice in hockey cards. In fact, we offer more cards than you'll find at any show, or what any dealer's store could display. That was the day Wayne Gretzky was traded to the Kings. Those kind of monumental days don't happen often, but the Mighty Ducks and the Kings came close to collectively achieving that status Thursday with the signing of free-agent defenseman Scott Niedermayer by Anaheim on the same day a trade brought center Jeremy Roenick to Los Angeles. Niedermayer, 31, was the most recent recipient of the NHL's Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in the league. He moves on to Anaheim, signing a four-year, $27 million deal. He had won three Stanley Cups in 12 years in New Jersey, including a seven-game series win over the Ducks in 2003. "He was the best player available from the whole list," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said. "I know that's a bold statement. There are a lot of good players that have moved. There are still some good players who are going to move."
