Connor Dunlop scored his fifth goal of the season in Notre Dame's 4-2 loss at Bowling Green.
Hockey's Three-Game Winning Streak Snapped At Bowling Green Connor Dunlop and John Wroblewski net goals as Irish fall to Falcons 4-2. Dec. 8, 2001 Final Stats Bowling Green, Ohio - The only thing that standing between Notre Dame and a four-winning streak on Saturday night versus Bowling Green stood 5-10, weighed 165 pounds and wore a bright orange-trimmed mask. That would be goaltender Tyler Masters who did his best imitation of a brick wall as he kicked out 45 of Notre Dame's 47 shots in a 4-2 Falcons' win over the Fighting Irish Saturday night at the BGSU Ice Arena. The loss snapped Notre Dame's three-game winning streak and drops the Irish to 5-7-4 overall and 5-4-3 in CCHA. Bowling Green improves to 5-9-4 overall and 4-8-2 in CCHA play. "Tyler Masters was enormous for them tonight," said Notre Dame head coach Dave Poulin "We knew that coming in. He's one of the better goaltenders in college hockey and he came up big in the game."

Monday, December 2, 1996 Front Page Campus City Sports ... Home College Hockey Showcase looking for long-term run By MARC VIEAU
State News Sports Writer DETROIT - The four-year contract for the College Hockey Showcase has expired, but the four schools involved are looking to continue it. Representatives from MSU, U-M, Minnesota and Wisconsin met on Saturday morning and agreed to recommend to their administrations that the event be continued. Future sites and formats are yet to be determined. The Showcase idea started five years ago as the brainchild of MSU head coach Ron Mason and has taken off from there. Some of the talk around Joe Louis Arena, where this year's event was held, indicated that Minnesota coach Doug Woog has wondered about getting Ohio State involved to give it a true Big Ten flavor. Woog also suggested adding a championship game. The Showcase is currently played in a round-robin format. SHOWCASE RECAP U-M turned out to be the big winner at the Showcase, going 2-0 on the weekend. The Wolverines (13-1-1 overall, 6-1-1 CCHA) beat Minnesota 4-3 in overtime on Friday and then blitzed Wisconsin 8-4 on Saturday. The Golden Gophers (9-5, 8-4 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) tied the game 3-3 with seven seconds left in regulation on a goal by sophomore winger Erik Rasmussen.

Don't Look Now, But...
by Lisa Morrison and Mike Ward /CCHA Reporters A Wolverine icer leads the nation in power-play tallies, and is second in goals and overall scoring. The goalie has set NCAA records for career shutouts and wins. ADVERTISEMENT
No, this is the 1997-98 Wolverine hockey team, and pollsters and fans alike are beginning to wonder just how good it is. So far, the skeptics are wrong. Last year's team garnered 26 points in its first 15 conference games; this year, the sixth-ranked Wolverines have 25 points over the same stretch. Much of that success is due to the performance of assistant captains Bill Muckalt and Marty Turco, whose decisions to stay and play their senior year on a team full of young, inexperienced players have given all concerned a chance to develop into a well-coached, motivated and successful hockey team. Bill Muckalt turned down an NHL contract with his hometown Vancouver Canucks to play his senior year at Michigan. Muckalt's 64 points last year were second on the team only to Morrison, and he now hopes to demonstrate that he did more than benefit from playing on the Morrison line.
