Hi there and thanks for stopping by! I am located in the Great White North and a huge hockey fan, but my thoughts and comments will not be limited to such :) As of June 8 I've been given some extra free time and thought I'd spend it experimenting here.

Thursday, September 15, 2005 10:23:44 PM EDT Times, they have changed! I come from a large family, 7 children. Five girls and 2 boys, I fall near the younger half and of course never let them forget it! My sister just celebrated her 18th anniversary of turning 29. I love that she is only 29 as that makes me 27, eternally! Happy Birthday Karen! High School was a blast! I went to school with a lot of the same kids I went to grammar school with and more that grew up in the area, we were a lively bunch. I wasn't a straight A student by any stretch of the imagination but I held my own. I ran track and was a cheerleader, but I also had a lot of friends that were, lets say from the other side of the tracks. The 'clicks' back then were not like they are today, we mixed and mingled and crossed the lines regularly-the jocks, the heads, the nerds. Ok, so maybe not over the nerd line often..........

Weekly ECAC Hockey League Men's Honorees Announced
ALBANY, N.Y. - Three athletes have been honored by the ECAC Hockey League. It was announced earlier today (Feb. 28) that Scott Mifsud (Burlington, Ont.) from the University of Vermont, David McKee (Irving, Texas) from Cornell University and Tyler Burton (Langley, B.C.) of Colgate University have been tabbed with the league's weekly awards. Mifsud was the Player of the Week and McKee earned Goaltender of the Week honors, while Burton earned Rookies of the Week for the second straight time. Mifsud capped off his final regular season in the ECAC Hockey League with a flourish, scoring three of Vermont's four goals over the weekend as the Catamounts clinched fourth place and a first-round bye in the upcoming playoffs. Mifsud, with a flair for the dramatic, scored the game-winning goal with one second left in a thrilling 2-1 win over Brown Friday night while also assisting on Chris Myers' goal. The senior forward then scored both of Vermont's goals in a come-from-behind 2-2 tie against Harvard on Saturday that sealed up fourth place in the ECACHL standings. Tied for sixth nationally in scoring, Mifsud continues to lead the ECACHL in scoring and his 45 points, on 20 goals and 25 assists, are the most at Vermont since Martin St. Louis '97 scored 60 in 1996-97. The son of Joyce and Al Mifsud, Scott played hockey with the Thornhill Rattlers (OPJHL) prior to enrolling at UVM.

RUFF COAXES MOST FROM SABRES
By Miguel Rodriguez In every job, employees have to be accountable for the quality of their work. If someone does not do a good job, the employer or the supervisor has every right to demand more from that worker. Hockey is no different, except players have the luxury of job security in the form of guaranteed contracts. Gone are the days an organization can trade or demote someone to the minors as a form of motivation. That can make life hard for a coach, who must come up with creative ways to keep players inspired. Sometimes the only recourse is attacking a player's pride, a risky game because the coach could lose the rest of the team. But it's equally dangerous if the coach does nothing, because that could cost the team a playoff spot. It also creates jealousy in the locker room if the coach is hard on one player and lets another get off scot-free. Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff has played that game well this season and, so far, the Sabres have given an honest effort on most nights. That's why the once-bankrupt hockey club, which now has a bankroll, finished November with 11 wins, compared to four a year ago at the same point. Last season, the Sabres didn't win their 11th game until Jan. 10, 2003. Of course, the addition of talented and spunky forwards Chris Drury (four goals, 13 assists, 17 points) and Daniel Briere (seven goals, 19 points) are among the reasons the Sabres entered December at 11-11-2-1. The suddenly consistent play of J.P Dumont (eight goals, 19 points) and the solid play of veteran defenseman Alexei Zhitnik (one goal, eight assists) also are a reason for the team's solid start. But Ruff, the man behind the bench, is doing his best coaching job since the 1999 playoffs when the Sabres reached the Stanley Cup Finals.
