    Hockey - Beauty, Eh?
A largely unnoticed, but interesting phenomena of the sport of hockey is the significant number of feminine spectators and fans. I'm sure this phenomena is partially due to the nature of the sport. The Hockey rink seems to be the last place left where men can compete in honest, masculine brutality, while the ladies watch in breathless admiration at the raw display of testosterone. I also believe ladies love the sport because hockey has some of the best-looking athletes. There has been some controversy over this page because it appears that professional athletes are being treated like mere objects of beauty, but hopefully the players are not offended but flattered. Note#1: I have to warn you, I have a bias for my favorite team:

    Richard Park!!
He is good for 25+ points (I know not much) but he is quick and with the new rule changes it might help him out alot. He is a very solid 2 way forward, not as great as Mike Peca but good enough to have a spot on the Leafs. He could even be paired with Sundin to get him to about the 50 point mark. The reason why I really want Park is for his PK. We lost Reichel and Fitzy and now maybe even Mogs, with Park he can be paired with Sundin on our first PK and be very effective.

A pair of home losses to Niagara had the Catamounts with a 1-4-0 record headed out to face the top-ranked Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. To make matters worse the team's most talented offensive player, Brady Leisenring, was lost for the season due to injury. Vermont turned that road trip into a springboard for the rest of the season. The Catamounts picked up a win and a tie against Minnesota Duluth on the road.

Christine Papio / Sun Staff For the coaches of the men's hockey team, there is little time off during the summer months. After bringing home the ECACHL regular season and tournament titles, a fourth consecutive Ivy League title and earning a third NCAA tournament berth in four seasons, head coach Mike Schafer '86 and assistant coaches Brent Brekke and Scott Garrow have been busy during the short time they have building another winning team for the 2005-06 season. SABRES FINALLY GET MOVING BEYOND TURMOIL OF TORTUROUS RIGAS FIASCO
By Miguel Rodriguez Former Niagara University hockey coach Blaise MacDonald is a native of Billerica, Mass. Yet, he's excited about the retooling done by the Buffalo Sabres this summer. MacDonald, now coaching at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell of the New England-based Hockey East Association, became a Sabres fan during his five seasons at Niagara. The former Lewiston resident's three sons Cameron, 7, Joseph, 4, and Jake, 2 are being raised as Sabres fans and aren't afraid to flaunt their loyalty to the organization in an area known for being passionate about all of New England's major sports teams. "They're going to be an exciting team," said MacDonald, who admitted wearing Montreal Canadiens gear is a more grievous offense to Boston Bruins fans than Sabres colors. "I think the organization is doing a great job of trying to be as good as it can be through free agency, trades. And what more can you ask for?" A Stanley Cup. But chances of that happening in 2004 are slim. Yet the Sabres do have a much better chance of making the playoffs for the first time since 2001. The reason names like Chris Drury, Andy Delmore and Derek Roy. Those are the talented players added to a roster that featured more serviceable players than difference-makers the past two seasons.

Do a Good Deed A friend of mine from high school is trying to win a free wedding from a local radio station. He was supposed to be married a month or so ago, but his mom was killed outside her house a week before the wedding and my friend's wedding money went toward the funeral. It's a really messed up story. . It's not like you have any hockey to watch. You may as well do it. Posted by Steven Ovadia on Thursday, November 04, 2004, 07:07 AM Vote the Hockey Ticket Big shock. Rob Ray is backing off his comments that he would become a replacement player in a scab-staffed NHL . He told the Buffalo News he has no intention of ever playing again.
The players actually have a lot of good reasons why the NHL wouldn't work with replacement players. Canadian labor laws (or labour laws) are one reason . Matt Barnaby, as smart as he is mean, points out that people won't pay for crappy hockey. And Buffalo defenseman Jay McKee reasons that if you take all ECHL and AHL players, you'll have no one to play in those leagues. You know. Except me. Even though I can't skate or shoot.
Meanwhile, the NHLPA is finally getting smart. They continue to resist a salary cap, but yesterday
