Edmonton Oiler Georges Laraque has become a fan favorite in the years hes played here so when word spread that he would visit The Salvation Armys Clareview office, the kids who attend the after-school homework club couldnt have been happier. "To see the smiles that light up their faces when he pulled up in his car," said Linda Ledrew, office manager, "well, youd think theyd won a million dollars." Laraque took some time in between conditioning camp to visit the centre, bringing photographs to sign and sporting a Salvation Army hockey jersey. Each child had the opportunity to speak with Georges, have him sign a photo, hockey stick, jersey , hat or whatever and finally, have their photo taken with the Oiler. "Many of these kids wont have the opportunity to see these guys except on television," said Ledrew. "So for them, this is a fantastic end to the summer break before they head back to class."
