By Brian Wachsman
Business Manager What a difference a week makes. Just seven days ago the Binghamton Senators were a season-high twelve games over .500, were riding a 10-game unbeaten streak, and had a comfortable five-point lead over the second-place Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Since then, the B-Sens have dropped two straight - a 2-1 heartbreaker in Worchester and a 4-0 loss Wednesday night against the fourth-place Springfield Falcons -and have watched their Eastern Division lead shrink to three points. "We were on a pretty good roll," said Binghamton forward Dennis Bonvie. "But good teams respond. We had a sloppy one before the [All-Star] break and a sloppy one now. We're not going to make excuses. We have a couple of days to regroup here and play the way we've been playing; we haven't been doing that too much and this is what happens." The two losses were the first back-to-back defeats for Binghamton since January 8th and January 10th, but the Senators came close in Worchester.

Take a look back at the B-Sens first half
By Brian Wachsman
Staff Writer As Binghamton University students start the second half of their 2002-2003 school year, the Senators delve into the second half of their corresponding season. The Sens had a fairly successful first half, but as they emphasize the importance of every game and every point in the standings, they will look to sustain their recent level of play. Here's a look back at the first half of the Binghamton Senators inaugural season, and a look ahead at what to expect as the B-Sens make their playoff run: RECAP OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS: HIGH: Oct. 11, 2002 vs. Bridgeport (5-4 W) - Brian Pothier nets the game-winning goal 47 seconds into overtime to give the Sens their first victory in franchise history in front of a sold-out-crowd. Jason Spezza shows fans what all the hype is about as he tallies a goal and two assists during a four-goal second period. LOW: Oct. 12, 2002 vs. Hartford (5-3 L) - In head coach John Paddock's first game against his former team, his B-Sens suffered a tough loss as they carried a 3-3 game into the third before yielding two third period goals. Goaltender Ray Emery stopped 19 shots in the first period and 35 overall, but couldn't stop the Senators from suffering their first loss of the season.

Mechanics expect to be short-handed tonight
Wives of two players close to delivery
PUBLISHED: January 21, 2005
By Chuck Pleiness
Macomb Daily Sports Writer
The last three games of the Motor City Mechanics' six-game road trip just got a bit longer. The Mechanics will be without the services of their hottest player, Chris Gignac, and their third leading goal scorer, Jeff Goldie. They may also be without winger Dan Price, who has 13 points in 23 games since joining the club. "We could be in trouble this weekend," said Motor City coach Garry Unger, whose club is 9-25-6 this season. The wives of Goldie, who didn't make the trip to Richmond with the team, and Price, who is with the team, are due to delivery any day. Goldie is second on the team with 14 goals. Gignac's situation is a bit more dicey. He was unable to obtain an H2B working visa. An H2B working visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows foreign nationals to enter into the United States temporarily to work. Players at the minor-league level are considered seasonal workers and fall under that category. "Migrant workers and hockey players were put in the same category," United Hockey League president Richard Brosal said. "He filed and they stopped issuing those on January 3. We've got our lawyers looking at other ways to obtain him the proper paperwork."

1995-96 Hockey East Year in Review
Looking in the Rearview Mirror
by Dave Hendrickson /Hockey East Correspondent No matter what the year, every hockey season has something that makes it special and worth coming back for. This past year, Hockey East had its share of downs, from the tragic injury to Travis Roy in his first shift, to the penalties imposted on Maine for violating NCAA rules. There were the ups too. The exciting season put together by the UMass-Lowell River Hawks and their "sweep" of No. 1 Boston University, to the upstart Providence Friars winning their first Hockey East Championship since the league started in 1985. Let's look at each team individually, and assess not only their 1995-96 season performance, but also their future.
