Scoresheet's 2001-02 NHL Players List
New for 2002:
There will be a feature on our web site in 2002 that allows you to create your ranking list by simply clicking on player's names. You can also edit your ranking list by cutting and pasting, can save it to work on later, and can e-mail your list straight to us from the web page. When we post the 2002-03 player list we will include a link to this new 'create ranking sheet' page.
Left Wings
Right Wings Centers Defensemen ... Goalies The first number is the Scoresheet Player number , the second number is his total points earned last season (using our game's formulas), the third number is his average rating per game he played last season, the fourth number is the player's age as of Opening Day, and then his current NHL team (as of 8/15/01) is shown. Players with a dash (-) after their name were unsigned as of 8/15/01. If you are turning in your draft list by e-mail you can just download this player list, and then cut and paste the player's entire line to your draft list (ending up with a draft list with players listed in the order you want to draft them). You do not have to delete anything (points, age, etc) - you can just leave the whole line as is. Go to instructions on downloading this list if you have problems.

Sean M. Burke
Last updated Thursday, 08-Sep-05 00:14:11 EDT
BIOGRAPHY
BORN: Windsor, Ontario, January 29, 1967.
HOME: Simsbury, Connecticut.
HEIGHT:
WEIGHT: 200-210 lbs.
UNIFORM #: New Jersey Hartford Carolina Phoenix Philadelphia Philadelphia 2/14/2004-present). Sean has worn #1 in every National Hockey League stop save for Philadelphia. He wore #33 in his first stint with the club (1998), and in his 2004 debut with the club. He switched to #41 in his second start, reportedly to get a "1" in his number.
CATCHES: Left
JUNIOR TEAM: Toronto (OHL)
SALARY (1996-97):
STYLE: Butterfly/stand-up hybrid. Doesn't so much play the puck as he does the percentages of positioning.
STRENGTHS: At 6'4", one of the largest in the league, Burke can be an imposing target for shooters. Good positioning skills; he often lets the "puck find the glove". Excellent attitude, highly coachable. At his best when he is aggressive and low in his crouch.
WEAKNESSES: Inconsistent. Gives up five-hole and low glove side goals. Needs to work on stickhandling, although - to his credit - he doesn't overdo his outlet attempts. Bad back gives him problems from time to time, and he doesn't recover following a scramble as well as smaller goaltenders.
Name pronounced BUHRK.

Turku team national hockey champions again
The Turku team TPS are the Finnish champions in ice hockey once again. TPS held on to the trophy after defeating the Helsinki team Jokerit 2-1 at their final match at the Helsinki Arena on Sunday evening.
A subdued, almost peaceful atmosphere prevailed in the TPS locker room as the players answered questions almost drowned out by powerful background music. A grand celebration awaited them at the Turku Arena, as the team piled into their bus to return home.
The team broke into a chant of “Simo, Simo, Simo...” when former TPS player Simo Rouvali entered the locker room in his wheelchair. Marko Tuokko rushed to greet Rouvali, and placed his own medal around the neck of Rouvali, who celebrated TPS' victory last year when the Helsinki team HIFK was defeated in the finals. Rouvali's career in hockey was cut off in the summer when he was paralysed in a serious swimming accident.
In the finals' series, TPS remained on top, with one exception, when Jokerit won the match played in Turku on Friday. On Sunday, Jokerit fought bravely in front of 13,000 spectators, but the initiative was with TPS all the way through.
The Turku team had hoped to celebrate their victory already on Saturday, but the surprise victory by Jokerit in their third confrontation served as a wake up call.

Fantasy hockey News Jason Doig – to Ottawa with Jeff Ulmer as part of theSean gagnon trade. He’s bounced around a lot, never really found his home,
http://mt.hockeybird.com/archives/000779.html
The Aftermath Wednesday - August 15, 2001 Bored with a summer that started WAY too early for the Wolf*Pack, I threw a small party last night to bring together a few devout fans at my house. We ate and drank arena-style food (although they complained that my freshly washed floors weren’t sticky enough to really give the full arena affect) and watched game six of the 1999-2000 Calder Cup finals, in which the boys brought the cup to Hartford in only their third year. For many people, it was their first time actually seeing the game, as MSG didn’t show it (I saw it via satellite in a bar - without sound, of course) so it was great that a kind Rochester fan had taped the game and made it available to Wolf*Pack fans at cost. It should have been a great evening, getting together with the crowd and watching hockey in shorts (and sitting in much more comfortable chairs than those at the civic center), but it left me fairly depressed, for reasons that weren’t too difficult to pin down.
We expected the year after the cup to be a let down, because that’s the way it always is for championship teams. I had been warned that other teams would swoop up our best players, allowing them to make the jump to the NHL - something I could hardly begrudge them. However, the Pack managed to retain almost the entire team to start the season, so this excuse for a disappointing year really didn’t apply. We had essentially the same team, but got totally different results. It seemed like the Calder Cup team could really be split into categories: those who left, and those who stayed and sucked. Looking over that roster, and comparing it to the ragged pieces we have left now, I am worried and not nearly as enthusiastic for the season to begin as I was last year. Let’s take a look back at the Calder Cup team of 1999-2000, and play "where are they now?"

House Mite News
February 9 (Tilton Academy Rink)
The Kearsarge Mite House Hockey Team got off to a dazzling start against the Hartford (VT) Mini-canes leading 2-0 after seven minutes of play. A minute into the game Johnathan Munoz (# 35) dug the puck out of his own corner passing to Nathan Lamson (# 26) at mid-ice. Lamson, in turn, made a quick pass up the ice to Shawn Cavallero (# 25) who scored on a breakaway. 6 minutes and 57 seconds into the period Munoz created his own breakaway by stealing the puck at the blueline. He scored unassisted. The Blue Devils were on fire. Unfortunately, 21 seconds later the blaze spread as Hartford shot one into the Kearsarge net. In the last 4 minutes of the first, Hartford flamed the Blue Devils twice more to give themselves a 3-2 lead.
Despite good defensive play by Liam MacAllister (# 2), Tommy Arnold (#14), and Lauren Addie (# 22), Hartford extended its lead to 4-2 in the second period.
An early goal by Hartford increased their lead to 5-2, but Kearsarge did not give up. Tyler Nelson (# 5) nearly scored after a nice take-away. David Gagnon (# 7) stole the puck at the red line and took it in alone only to be thwarted by the visitor’s goalie. Likewise, Patrick Barton (# 8), Miles Keyser (# 24), and Dillon Smith (# 28) went unrewarded for good scoring efforts in front of Hartford’s net. Finally, at the halfway point of the third period Hartford was called for tripping. On the power play Munoz broke to the net from the blueline. His shot was stopped, but Lamson fired the rebound into the cords giving the blue and gold new life. However, the hoped-for comeback fell short as Hartford scored once more to make the final score 6-3.

History
Founded in 1947, the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) began choosing men's All-America hockey teams in 1958. The term "All-America" is actually a bit misleading, because two teams are chosen, one from the east and one from the west. Several times, one of the teams has had a player or two more than the other. The AHCA began choosing women's All-America teams in 2000. The women's teams are not regionally divided. Top of Page
