Right winger Theo Fleury may be one of the most exciting players to watch in the NHL. Another one of hockey's great pests, Fleury is also one of hockey's little guys who still manages to skate circles around most of the others. Fleury, the 166th overall pick in the 1987 draft, is all over the ice, a danger every second to the opposition. He launches wicked wrist shots from anywhere at just the right time to any point on the net. A perennial 30 goal scorer, Fleury is one of the smallest players in the NHL, but he doesn't back away from anyone. He enjoys using his stick very liberally when defending himself or sticking up for a team mate. And what the hell is wrong with that? Possessing great speed and quickness, he often seems to be dancing over the ice with his blades barely touching the frozen surface. He is always on the move, which is as much a tactic as an instinct for survival. You can't catch what you can't hit. He uses his outside speed to burn slower, bigger defensemen, or he can burst up the middle and split two defenders. He uses all of the ice.
A better finisher than playmaker, Fleury is not at his best handling the puck; he's much better at receiving the pass late and then making things happen, which is why he must be paired with a playmaking centre. Playing for years on pitiful

Confessions of a Hockey Fanatic
This is a online journal to give my opinion on anything regarding ''the coolest game on Earth'' from the NHL to the Stanley Cup and it's playoffs, from International hockey such as Winter Olympics and World Cup competitions, to my thoughts about my hometown team Pittsburgh Penguins, to talking about match-ups I've made from EA Sports NHL Playstation game and playing online FHL, and to my personal anecdotes working in and with the game that I love... Rival Radio Station turns to Hockey on ESPN
Okay.. I'm torn.
On a mission to the College [Chinese] Buffet to feed a friend and I during late night working at WRSC studios... I was listening to our competitors in my car... just to spy and see what they were up to. While a commercial spot was running, they aired a local promo for ESPN Radio saying that they are the home for next Sunday's NHL all star games and games for the rest of the season. So, you know how much I love the game of hockey, but can it overcome my guilty feeling to listen to my competitors? If Nielson calls, I won't be eligible so I guess me listening doesn't count!
Tonight also marks the NHL debut of Konstantin Koltzov, the Belarussian player that they drafted in the first round in 1999 and had trouble signing. He spent most of the year in Scranton minors.

Canada captures first hockey gold medal in 50 years

Goalie Martin Brodeur (front center) poses with the rest of Team Canada after receiving their gold medals. AP WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) The Maple Leaf dollar buried in America's home ice turned out to be a golden omen for Canada. The Canadians finally ended an agonizing 50-year wait for the Olympic gold medal in their national sport, beating the United States as Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic each scored twice in a historic 5-2 victory Sunday. "We're a hockey power in the world," goaltender Martin Brodeur said. "Winning the gold kind of reassures Canada." The loss ended U.S. coach Herb Brooks' quest to lead a second gold-medal winning team 22 years after the famous "Miracle on Ice" with a group of college players. "Our attitude coming into this game was we're the better team, we've got to go out there and prove it," U.S. captain Chris Chelios said. "But today, Canada was better." Maybe it was because the Americans really didn't have the home-ice advantage.
