Indianapolis Checkers
"1981/82 & 1982/83 C.H.L. CHAMPIONS" The Indianapolis Checkers joined the league for the 1979/80 season and played in the league until the league folded after the 1983/84 season. Indianapolis played for 5 season in the W.H.A. before they suspended operations in December of 1978. The City of Indianapolis was one of the five original franchises in 1963. However, that season was short-lived as a gas explosion destroyed the Coliseum in Indianapolis one month into the season. The team was then moved to Cincinnati to finish the season.

Changing On the Fly - hockey players discuss being traded
Hockey Digest , March, 2001 by Bob Matuszak EVERY DAY, IN EVERY WALK OF life, people are conducting serious conversations in regards to exchanging something that they have in their possession for another item someone else has in theirs. Children barter apples for oranges. Collectors swap hockey or baseball cards. And of course, general managers in the NHL constantly propose to their counterparts, "My guy for your guy?" But have you ever wondered how a trade is consummated? How one works from beginning to end? All we hear is the announcement that Player A is going to Team B in exchange for Player C. But what about what we aren't privy to? What about some of the logistics involved that are taken for granted? Well, so we tracked the anatomy of a trade, as told by those on the front line: the players themselves. Notification "Once an agreement between teams is made regarding a trade, the general managers will have a conference call with the NHL for league ratification," says Montreal Canadiens general manager Rejean Houle. "The NHLPA really doesn't get involved, but they can request a memorandum of the trade."

  • Pavel, Pavel, Pavel ... It seems the Russian Rocket has been hogging headlines in the daily newspapers of late, and for good reason - - he's been on a rediculous scoring rampage. Turning on the red light at a goal-a-game pace over the last 42 games, Bure is the hottest goal-scorer in the NHL since the All-Star break. In his last 37 games he picked up 39 goals, including his 50th of the season in a 6-3 victory over the KIngs, the same game Wayne Gretzky scored his 802nd goal to better Gordie Howe's NHL career scoring record.
  • With his 50 goals this season, Bure is not only the lone Canuck to tally 50 markers in a single season, he is now the only Canuck to accomplish the feat in back-to-back seasons and also the only Canuck with two 100 point seasons - - also bacl-to-back.
  • Pavel started the 1993-94 season with seven goals in seven games, then missed eight games due to groin injury and had just 11 goals in his next 25 games before going on his current scoring frenzy.

  • John Namestnikov has been staying with Pavel at his mansion since being called up from the Canuck's farm club in Syracuse in late January. John's family remains behind in Syracuse, not knowing how long his stay will be with the Vancouver Canucks.
  • In the last week of March, Pavel's mom, Tatyana, arrived from Russia for a four week visit and is also taking residence at the mansion. She attended the March 29 home game against the Los Angeles Kings and in the 5-2 win, Pavel recorded his first goal in nine games.
  • A recent issue of Vogue Magazine had a small article about 'Russian hockey players' picturing Detroit Red Wing Sergei Fedorov and Canuck Pavel Bure. The article stated that 'the hockey jersey is about to replace the backward baseball cap as the sports fashion item of choice, helped by a few incredibly sexy imported Russian players like ruby-lipped Pavel Bure of the Vancouver Canucks'.
  • The March issue of 'Becketts Hockey Monthly' has listed Pavel Bure's cards as the hottest cards this month.

What we're all about:
In 1967-68, while I was at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, I used to hang around with a bunch of guys who liked to have fun. Good thing to do, most of the time. Some of the guys liked to head for the lakes up North on weekends and other times, and the road to the lakes led through Duck Lake, Sask. One day, as a carload of these people were driving through Duck Lake, one unnamed but well-known individual leaned out the car window and hollered, "Quack quack quack! This is the Big Duck speaking!" Ever after, when we saw this individual, whether it be in class or on the street or in the bar, we hollered "Quack!" at him. After a while, it got to be fun hollering "Quack!" at each other, too. Later in the year, a group of us would meet for parties and show movies. There was no such thing as a video in those days, so we would borrow a 16mm projector and a pile of National Film Board movies and go to someone's house and have fun. We even learned how to build an igloo. Of course, at the parties, we would all holler "Quack!" a lot, and this eventually metamorphosed into the Saskatoon Duck Club, which became the Canadian Duck Club. And that's the true story!

"To calm emotional volatily" - Canada.com
When you're a mere Crawly Amphibian in this vast wasteland referred to by The Accordion Guy as TEH INTARWEB, you don't get many referrals slipping by unnoticed. Without further prologue, I would like to recognize the makers of the medication Ceroquel for providing me with what is quite possibly 10% of my traffic.
You see, Google returns 5 results on Ceroquel. For reasons unknown, ceroquel.com, .org, and .net are all 404. The 4th is a newsbot link with an apparently expired source. And the 5th is me, because in my last post on the illustrious Dar Heatherington , I made mention of her not unsubstantial pharmaceutical regimen.
To the makers of Ceroquel: get one of your links up and running. There are people out there searching for information, though admittedly a small fraction of the number looking for

The Wings' first round opponent was the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes are a strong, physical team with superstars such as Jeremy Roenick and Keith Tkachuk. The Wings' got a break when Coyotes goalie Nikolai Khabibulanthe Bulin Wallwent down with a groin injury in Game 4, but the series was by no means easy.
