Marc Denis was a workhorse for the Columbus Blue Jackets in his third full season with the team. After splitting time with Ron Tugnutt in 2001-2002, Denis was solid between the pipes for the Jackets last season. The 25-year-old netminder appeared in 77 games and set a new NHL record for minutes played in a season with 4,511. The Montreal native also notched five shutouts, good enough for ninth-place in the League. The former junior league star was selected 25th overall by Colorado Avalanche at the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Colorado traded the netminder to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a second-round draft pick in 2000. Denis answered questions from NHL.com users on Thursday, July 24.

Considering he captured practically every conceivable accolade in his three-year junior career, it's no surprise the Colorado Avalanche selected Marc Denis with the 25th overall pick at the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Playing with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL from 1994-97, Denis won the 1996 Marcel Robert Trophy for Top Scholastic/Athletic performer and the 1997 Jacques Plante Trophy for top goaltender. In 1997, he helped lead his squad to the QMJHL Finals and Memorial Cup Tournament. Overall, Denis finished his junior career 62-45-7 with a 3.11 goals-against average.

Dec. 29, 1939- Corporation executive; entrepreneur. "I enjoy building something good and having a successful product and making money," the entrepreneur H. Wayne Huizenga has said. The hero of a real-life Horatio Alger story, in his early twenties Huizenga worked as a garbage-truck driver. Striking out on his own, he started a one-man trash-collection operation that, within a decade, had grown into a highly profitable enterprise providing employment for several dozen people. In 1968, combining his business with three other companies, he created Waste Management, Inc., which, when he resigned as president and chief operating officer in 1984, having decided to retire, ranked as the largest trash haulage and disposal business in the world. Bored with inactivity, he began buying properties in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, his adopted hometown, and soon became a major player in the city's economy. WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
"Last year's No. 1-ranked prospect in Future Watch has had some growing pains in his first year of pro hockey. As of early March, Denis had a 9-20-1 record with the Hershey Bears, sporting a 3.32 goals-against average and .884 save percentage. Those numbers have the Avs brass somewhat alarmed, but nobody is ready to give up on the former world junior champ. "He's had to make an adjustment to the pro level," said Avs' assistant coach Jacques Cloutier . "It's a big step and he needs to keep improving, but he's going to be a very good goalie in the NHL." Denis has played better in the second half of the season, lowering his GAA by more than half a goal. If he is to convince the Avs he is the heir apparent to Patrick Roy , though, Denis will have to have a better season in 1998-99."

In a definite milestone year in the history of the Red Wing hockey club, the boys in Red and White blossomed into a Memorial Cup contender. Stan Dunn entered his 3rd year as Wing GM-Coach and his quality coaching and persistence paid off. After winning the provincial title and the Abbot Cup, symbolic of western Canadian junior hockey supremacy, including defeating the vaunted Regina Pats, the Wings played in their only Memorial Cup against the Montreal Jr. Canadians. Though losing the series, the Wings were nationally acknowledged as one of the country's smallest cities, competing against Canada's largest.
Contributing to Dunn's veteran lineup were Bob Gerrard, Brian Back, Graeme Bennet, Bill Ennos, Al Wawro, Cal Booth, Bob Miller, and Bob Sperling.
