He ran out of the right halfback slot. In 1929, he rushed for over half the team's yards in a win over F. and M. He was a true triple threat as he was an accurate place kicker. His passes were pinpoint. However, it was his ability to run which devastated opponents. Following a star-studded freshman year, he advanced to the varsity in 1928 and became the only sophomore that year to win three varsity letters - basketball, baseball as well as football. He was as strong in basketball as he was in football and baseball. He was constantly among the leading scorers on the team. In 1930, he scored nine points in a 33-25 win over Georgetown. He served as captain of the team an honor he cherished. When it came to baseball, few pitchers could retire this .400 hitter and few hitters were able to pound the ball past his outfield post. Following World War II, "Skeetz" joined the infant Moreland Corporation and rose to its president ad director. | |
