Ebenso wie Rebraca werden Dejan Bodiroga und Dejan Tomasevic ihre Nationalmannschafts-Karriere nach der EM im eigenen Land beenden.
"Fragen Sie ihn selbst"

Home About Us Contact Us Subscribe ... Sports Tuesday, August 17, 2004 Puerto Rico stuns American 5 By Chris Sheridan AP Basketball Writer ATHENS, Greece—In an upset as historic as it was inevitable, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson and the rest of the United States basketball team lost, 92-73, to Puerto Rico on Sunday, only the third Olympic defeat for the Americans. It was also the most lopsided loss in the games for the US team, alarming not only for its significance but also for its decisiveness. Puerto Rico, which had lost to the Americans five times in the past 13 months, took control in the first half, led by 22 at halftime and gamely held off a fourth-quarter comeback for one of the biggest sports achievements in the island territory’s history. The loss was a blow to the Americans’ confidence, but it did little to hurt their gold medal chances. They need only to finish in the top four of their six-team group to reach the quarterfinals. As Carlos Arroyo left the court with just over a minute left, he defiantly pulled at the words “Puerto Rico” on his jersey. He led his team with 24 points.

Home About Us Contact Us Subscribe ... Sports Thursday, August 05, 2004 Italy shames US five By Roy Kammerer Ap Sports Writer COLOGNE, Germany—The US men’s Olympic team did more than merely lose. It was embarrassed and exposed in its most lopsided defeat since adding National Basketball Association players in 1992. Losing an exhibition game for the first time when using professional players, the Americans were completely outclassed by lightly regarded Italy, never even making it close in the fourth quarter of a 95-78 upset Tuesday. “This is a wakeup call for us,” Philadelphia 76ers star Allen Iverson said. “I think we need something like this to understand it’s not going to be easy.” Meanwhile in Belgrade, Serbia-Montenegro, Igor Rakocevic and Milos Vujanic combined for 31 points for Serbia and Montenegro in a surprisingly easy 93-80 victory over 2003 European basketball champion Lithuania. Playing in front of its home fans, the team formerly known as Yugoslavia had its best pre-Olympic performance to win the Diamond Ball Tournament.

ASSOCIATED PRESS 10:49 a.m. August 15, 2004
Associated Press Manu Ginobili's off-balance shot left his hand just a split-second before the final buzzer, dropping through the basket to give Argentina a thrilling 83-82 victory over Serbia-Montenegro on Sunday on the first day of Olympic men's basketball.
While Argentina's players mobbed Ginobili, Serbia-Montenegro's coach protested that the shot came after the buzzer. But TV replays showed Ginobili released the ball in time. "Once it left my hand, I knew it was good," Ginobili said. "This is a very special thing." Ginobili scored 27 points for Argentina, which avenged a defeat in the title game at the 2002 World Championships. A non-call by a referee at the end of regulation sent that game into overtime to help Serbia-Montenegro, then known as Yugoslavia, win. This time, Argentina prevailed after a final 10 minutes that had all the excitement of a medal-round match. Neither team led by more than four points in the fourth quarter after Serbia-Montenegro came back from a big early deficit.

BOGDAN TANJEVIC: 'I MISSED THE WEEK-BY-WEEK ACTION'
PODGORICA, January 11, 2001 (Euroleague) He may still be the coach of the reigning European national champions, Italy, but when Bogdan Tanjevic revisits PAOK Sports Arena in Thessaloniki, Greece, tonight, it will be as the new head coach of another team, club KK Buducnost, of Podgorica, Montenegro. It is a game rife with drama, as two clubs with high aspirations in the Euroleague battle for a victory that could secure home court advantage in the playoffs at the end of the month, thereby influencing their long-term chances of success. Believe it or not, taking over the job at such a crucial moment in the season doesn't rattle Tanjevic. It is just that kind of pressure that made him take the Buducnost job to begin with. "To be honest, I missed the week-by-week action and stress that a coach of a club faces, and this is one of the reasons that I accepted the offer of Buducnost," Tanjevic said on the eve of the game. "The other reason, of course, is that I had in my hands a very good and attractive offer, that I examined and accepted under a long-term prospective, since I intend to build something solid in my new team." Tanjevic intends to keep coaching the Italian national team, as well. His decision to coach a club at the same time provoked some strong reactions in Italy, but the coach isn't concerned about the pressure on that front, either.
