Site Map Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and Dean “The Dream” Meminger Together Again November 5, 2003 – Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, the former New York Knicks superstar, visited Manhattanville yesterday, to support the men’s basketball team and his former teammate and friend, Dean “The Dream” Meminger, who is the Valiants’ new coach. “I asked to him to come because no one can explain how to raise your level of play better than someone who has done it himself,” said Coach Meminger. During the team’s practice in the Kennedy Gym, Monroe expressed confidence in his former teammate and the 2003-04 Valiants. “Dean is a great teacher and a great role model” said Monroe. “As coach he’ll be able to share his knowledge of the game with a team that has tremendous potential. For a former player, there’s really no greater pleasure than to pass on your experiences to a younger generation of ball players.”
