PRINT THIS STORY Mashburn steps up in a starring role Last Updated: May 16, 2001 SportsDay Bob Wolfley Remember that it was Glenn Robinson and Ray Allen of the Milwaukee Bucks, and not Jamal Mashburn of the Charlotte Hornets, who were chosen to play in the All-Star Game at the break. Mashburn wasn't voted to the team by fans, nor was he picked by coaches as a reserve. The Hornets as a team were not playing well, getting to the all-star break at 26-25, so that in part hurt Mashburn's chances to make the team. But in these playoffs, it's Mashburn who is coming up bigger for his team than Robinson or Allen or Sam Cassel l are for their team. Mashburn is playing like an all-star in the post-season. | |
