Utah Jazz , and Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association in a career spanning from 1987 to 2004. Mark gained a reputation as a streetballer in New York and a college hoops star at St. John's University , and was drafted as the 18th pick in the 1987 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks . Mark teamed with Patrick Ewing Charles Oakley , and John Starks to turn the Knicks into a prime playoff team in the early 1990s. However, during the time that Mark was on the Knicks, they were taken out of the playoffs each year by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Mark had a steady career with the Knicks, averaging 13.6 points per game and 10.6 assists per game, earning him the Rookie of the Year award. SOLENT STARS 81 (20, 36. 59) WORTHING THUNDER 91 (30, 54, 72) Sunday 27th March, Fleming Park Leisure Centre An uninspiring first quarter performance by the Solent Stars squad effectively put pay to any chance of a last game of the season win for the home team, who now finish tenth in the league. Fifth placed Worthing Thunder looked sharper and more skilful in the opening stages. A couple of early turnovers by American players Marlin Capers and Larry Parker did not bode well for the home side and helped Worthing go into a 18 - 9 lead by the eighth minute. The teams evenly shared the spoils for the remaining two minutes when over 20 points were scored. Solent's defence was penetrated with consummate ease for the visitors to add to their total whilst only Capers was hitting the target with any regularity for Solent.

Head Coach Mark Slonaker
Mark Slonaker enters his seventh season as the head coach at Mercer after his most successful year as head coach, leading the Bears to their first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference regular season title. After toiling for five years rebuildingthe program at Mercer, Slonaker helpedauthor the greatest single-season turn -around in NCAA history, going from 6-23in 2001-02 to 23-6 in 2002-03. The 17-game improvement eclipsed three otherschools for the best single-season improvement. But the success last season is no surprise to those that have followed Slonaker. A native of Rahway, N.J., Slonaker's path to the head job at Mercer began in 1976 when he began his collegiate career at the University of Georgia. After earning All-America honors in high school, Slonaker was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs and was named co-captain his senior season. A solid backcourt player,he led the team in assists as a sophomoreand his 211 career assists are in thetop 20 in Georgia's history. Following his playing career,Slonaker jumped into the coaching ranks, serving as a student assistant coach at Georgia for the 1979-80 season. With a year of coaching under his belt, Slonaker jumped into his first head coaching position at the Lovett School in Atlanta. There, he turned a losing program into a winning team.
