Kevin Frey did it. Lloyd Price did it. And Lionel Chalmers did it. Once again, a Xavier player stepped up and made a big play against Cincinnati. Once again, no one on the Cincinnati side had a response.  The repercussion of Tuesday's loss is that more than ever, the Musketeers own the Crosstown Shootout.  While UC easily holds the all-time lead in the series, 45-26, XU has now won four of the past five games and six of the last eight. The trend during this current streak - if it's a close game, the Muskies are going to win.  Cincinnati won its lone game during the past five seasons by 20 points. The Musketeers four wins were by a combined 12 points. Four of their six wins during the past eight seasons were by a single basket.

The first truly authoritative selections were made by the Converse Yearbook , beginning in 1932 and continuing through 1948. Other major selectors didn't get involved in naming basketball All-Americans until after World War II: Associated Press in 1948, the National Association of Basketball Coaches and United Press in 1949, and International News Service in 1950. However, the Helms Athletic Foundation (now the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles) chose basketball All-Americans retroactively, beginning in 1920. Most e-mailed articles Sonics forward Danny Fortson was headed the wrong way when he greeted former Sonic Michael Cage before leaving KeyArena about two hours before yesterday's game. Fortson, in his first season with the Sonics after a trade from Dallas, was suspended without pay for one game for a foul against Chris Bosh in Friday's 88-87 win over Toronto. Fortson fouled Bosh underneath the hoop with 10:19 remaining in the second quarter. Stu Jackson, NBA senior vice president of basketball operations, announced that the foul was upgraded to a flagrant. Sonics coach Nate McMillan said he saw the foul while reviewing the game tape and thought Fortson could be fined. The suspension, a possible result of officials also reviewing tape and/or coaches complaining about the Sonics' newfound aggressive style of play, was a surprise, however. Many in the Sonics' camp believe Fortson, a 6-foot-8, 260-pound forward, is watched closely because of his flagrant foul against Phoenix's Zarko Cabarkapa last season, which resulted in Cabarkapa missing 22 games with a broken wrist.

(AP) Ask anyone around the league prior to this season about the Sonics, and they were mentioned in, well, the same breath as the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers in the battle for the bottom of the Western Conference.
