Save a personal copy of this article and quickly find it again with Furl.net. It's free! Save it. The hives have been around for a while, you just haven't heard of them until recently because they have been festering away in a small town in Sweden, ice fishing and eating lutefisk and lingonberries. Well, that and honing their high-test rock act. In the last year they've exploded on America and elsewhere, their record went gold in the UK (?!), and they set many heads t turning. Their tunes are short, sharp, and catchy as all get out, and their live show is fun to watch as singer Howlin' Pelle Almqvist works the crowd, Their bass player Dr Matt Destruction has a mustache! Mustaches are so un-punk that they're punk! Only the guy from White Flag was previously allowed to have a mustach, and he's a cop! Nicolaus Arson an Vigilante Carlstroem play guitars, and Chris Dangerous rounds out the lineup on skins. All their stuff is worth getting, from their singles to their recent LPs on Gearhead and Epitaph.

Save a personal copy of this article and quickly find it again with Furl.net. It's free! Save it. BEFORE BEING ASKED TO GO ON THE ROAD WITH ENJOI I was hiding out in New York, and as I often do these days, halfway hoping and halfway dreading that someone would invite me on a tour. Matt Eversole called and asked if I'd like to accompany them to Portugal and Spaingreat news! In all my years of skate photography, it's the friendships I value more than anything. Jerry Hsu has become something of a brother to me. And they are all great friends. I would very much love to travel a country as amazing as Portugal with them. HASSELBLAD HEIST BEFORE DEPARTURE I had bought new camera odds and ends. My camera bag was looking tight, but on the night before the trip, when I left: my car briefly to deliver a birthday gift, I returned to find my window smashed and the camera bag stolen from the trunk. It was devastating. So I brought with me on the plane what I could, an old camera and a scratched fisheye and made due. No Hasselblad, no radio slaves. Just some rundown lenses and a slow motordrive. Hopefully it's well enough for you.

My favorite place in Connecticut is the Wadsworth Atheneum. I went there on a class trip and I really enjoyed it. I liked when you walk in and the walls are in strips of color. It makes you really want to go in and look around. My favorite thing in the museum is the Charter Oak chair. I learned the story of the Charter Oak from my teacher because she teaches Social Studies and we are learning about Connecticut. And this is how it happened...... Once there was a king that gave a Charter to Connecticut's people so they could be free. But, one day, the king that gave the Charter to them retired and a new king came in to rule. The king wanted the Charter back from Connecticut's people so the king took the Charter. He was sitting at a table then somebody blew off the lights (there were no lights back then so there were just candles). The person who blew off the lights took the Charter to a great big Oak tree. There he hid the Charter in a hole in the Oak tree. That's why the tree was called the Charter Oak.

Included in the mix were a couple of photos depicting a large, flathead catfish with a junior size basketball stuck in its mouth.

RioRoboLab creates mini submarine fish
Published: Monday, April 11, 2005 by Suzy Chapman
for the Round Up
A research program at New Mexico State University, RioRoboLab, is working to develop platforms that imitate swarm behavior and intelligence through the use of tiny robotic submarines.
RioRoboLab director Ram Prasad said swarm behavior is fundamental to all biological systems, and swarm intelligence is the ability to adapt and survive self-evolution through time.
"Biological systems have evolved for millions of years, and we must make a serious effort to understand how these systems exhibit the highest levels of 'order,'" Prasad said.
RioRoboLab graduate student Matthew King said swarm intelligence and behavior are exhibited naturally by ant colonies, bees, flocks of birds, herds of wild animals on an African safari and a multitude of biological systems including schools of fish.
RioRoboLab has taken the concept regarding schools of fish and worked to emulate its force in the lab. The students aim to make mini robot submarines work like fish.

After high school I attended Culver - Stockton College in Canton, MO on a basketball scholarship. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology in 1991, after a internship with Illinois Department of Natural Resources. I began working for the Illinois Natural History Survey and the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program(LTRMP) in the fall of 1991 as a fisheries technician. In 1996 I became a SR. Technical Research Scientist and the crew leader for the LTRM fish monitoring component . Some of my responsibilities are collecting fisheries data, computerization and analyses of the data. I enjoy monitoring fish populations, assisting with similar research (i.e water quality, macroinvertebrates and vegetation), exploring the river and observing the many changes that have happened in the last seven years on the La Grange Reach of the Illinois River. Also, I am a member of the Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society. I met my wife, Christy in 1994 and we have a son Fletcher Reed who was born February 21, 1998. Some of my interests are waterfowl hunting with my chocolate lab Dallas, fishing and most outdoor activities that come with living next to the Illinois River. Oh yeah, I still try to play basketball.
