Redhawks Open Baylor Classic With 12-Point Win Seattle University opens 2004-05 season with win over Rockhurst University Nov. 19, 2004 SEATTLE - Seattle University opened its 2004-05 season on Friday with an 80-68 win over Rockhurst University to cap the first day of the Elgin Baylor Tip-Off Classic at the Connolly Center. Holy Names won the first game of the evening, 82-65, over Lewis and Clark College. An opening day crowd of 701 watched the Redhawks (1-0) take the lead from the start and never trail after the 17:12 mark of the first half. Seattle stretched the lead to nine at halftime before 39 fouls were called in the second half, breaking up any possible flow that the game could have at that point. Both Seattle and Rockhurst (1-2) finished the game with 27 fouls. Bernard Seals (Sacramento, Calif./Cosumnes River College) led Seattle with 22 points including 15 points in the first half. Jeff McDaniel (Stockton, Calif./Tokay HS) added 14 points with six rebounds and Scott Rainey (Astoria, Ore./UC Santa Barbara) pitched in with 10 points and eight rebounds. Point guard

REGIONAL FAN CHAPTERS Search Sports Fans THE GREATEST NBA PLAYERS Wilt Chamberlain During his unparalleled career Wilt rewrote the record books. No other player before or since has even come close to the all around domination that Wilt put on the NBA. In spite of all the rule changes to help offensive players in the 28 years since he retired Wilt still holds 50 NBA records - more than any other player in history. Among Wilt's most astonishing achievements was the only Double Triple-Double in NBA history: 22 points 25 rebounds and 21 assists on February 2, 1968 vs. Detroit. Wilt won the assist title in 1967-68 and made the all defense team (the award started in his 10th season) in his last 2 years. Michael Jordan
    Bill Russel

Russel is the greatest winner in the history of pro sports with 11 NBA Titles in 13 years. Even with that fact in mind Russel himself once stated: "Wilt could do my role better than I could". Kareem Abdul Jabbar
After he became the all time points leader in NBA history Kareem's supporters tried to say that he was better than Wilt, however the argument did not hold up to scrutiny. At 7'2" Kareem was not as good a rebounder as either Russel or Chaimberlain. As far as titles go Kareem's titles were all won while he had either one of the two greatest point guards in history (Oscar Robertson & Magic Johnson).

This authentic jersey will have the number 22 and the name 'Baylor' on it. This is the same style jersey worn by Elgin Baylor with the 1961-62 Los Angeles Lakers. Quality Construction
Throughout his illustrious career, Elgin Baylor displayed an incredible versatility by leading the Lakers for al least one season in scoring, rebounding, assists, field goal accuracy, free throw accuracy, and minutes played. In 1961-62 Baylor had a career-high scoring average of 38.2 points per game. Baylor will be remembered for his sure touch with the ball as well as his combination of agility and muscle. In 1947, the National Basketball League added new clubs in Flint, MI and Minneapolis, MN. The Professional Basketball League of America(PBLA), a loose circuit of twenty four clubs collapsed two weeks into its season and George Mikan of the Chicago American Gears ended up with the Minneapolis Lakers. His arrival began the legacy of Laker championships. By the 1948-49 season, the Minneapolis Lakers had jumped to the rival Basketball Association of America (BAA). In the 1949-50 season, the BAA and the NBL merged into NBA. The team from the land of 10,000 lakes became the first NBA dynasty winning five championships between 1949 and 1954. In 1960, Laker owner Bob Short decided to take his club to LA where the Dodgers and Rams had struck it rich. Back to Elgin Baylor listing
