Athletics Home Page The Office of Intercollegiate Athletics Howard Patterson Director of Athletics athletics@uttyler.edu Williams, Matthews Among Sixteen Signing with Patriot Baseball August 17, 2004 The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team has received commitments from 16 players for the 2004-2005 campaign according to head coach James Vilade. The group, which includes three All-State pitchers, will join 26 returning players for the Patriots who will play only their second season of intercollegiate baseball this year. Leading the recruiting class are Kansas State transfer Julian Williams and All-State pitcher Tim Matthews from Carrollton Newman Smith High School. Williams, a senior outfielder, was a two-time JUCO All-American at Eastfield College in Dallas before moving to Kansas State. He also earned All-America honors while playing at Fort Worth Eastern Hills High School. | |
