(CBS) The following is a weekly 60 Minutes Wednesday commentary by columnist Steve Hartman The season hasn’t started yet, but I’m done with baseball. Every year seems like it’s less about the game and more about the business.
I don’t even care about the Detroit Tigers anymore, and I used to love them. Now, I just think rooting for any pro-sports team is stupid. I know, I know. I need a serious attitude adjustment, which is why I came to Lakeland, Fla., to a place they call Tigertown. I wanted to become a fan again. Unfortunately, it didn’t start well. First, there was the rain delay. Then, I got into a little argument with my childhood hero, Tigers legend Al Kaline. He thought I was just upset because they stink.

Sparky drops in on Trammell
Anderson says Tigers manager 'will not fail'
By Record-Eagle staff writer DETROIT - Sparky Anderson's been watching from afar. On Thursday, he got a first-hand look. The Hall of Fame manager, who retired as skipper of the Detroit Tigers in 1995, was at Comerica Park on Thursday for a promotional shoot. Anderson said he watches the Tigers on television and studies their boxscores every morning at his home in California, and despite their slow start (6-10 after Thursday's 4-3 loss to the White Sox), he believes they're on the rise. "They have a very competitive club," Anderson said. "They going to have a fun year." Anderson dropped in unexpectedly on current Tigers manager Alan Trammell, who played shortstop for Anderson during his 17 seasons in Detroit.
