Resting Easy
Wow, what a response. We received HUNDREDS of posts and e-mails on home remedies for a sore throateverything from gargling w/salt water to a "5th of whatever" to wrapping peppered bacon around your throat. Just goes to show you how great and caring Cub fans are. So, thank you for all your wonderful responses. Probably the most sensible wereget some rest and drink lots of fluids, which I'm definitely doing. My wife did put together some sort of elixir earlier in the week that had honey and garlic in it (tasted awful, but it supposedly works!). That and some antibiotics and I hopefully will be ready to go Friday night in Pittsburgh. Dan Roan, the best sportscaster in town who does a great job on
play-by-play, is filling in for me today. Hopefully he calls a winner along with BB. Again, thanks for the great tips on getting my throat/voice back to
100%. You're the best! Len

Obviously, one of the players we will be watching closely the rest of the season is Matt Murton. Since coming to the Cubs organization, it's good news that he has hit at every level this year, including the big leagues. A lot of baseball people will tell you that the biggest jump that you have as a player is from Double-A to Triple-A. Usually at the Double-A level and below, you're seeing other minor leaguers who are near your age and experience. You get to Triple-A and suddenly you're up against guys who maybe are coming on their way back down from the major leagues and have had a little bit of a taste of it. Some of them are working their way back after an injury or demotion. Matt has handled all the transitions well.
