eam President Bob Bellizzi has been involved with college baseball for over twenty-five years and believes that Amsterdam was a perfect match for the Mohawks and the NYCBL. He is thrilled with the success of the Mohawks have had in their first three seasons in Amsterdam. "The combination of a sports minded city and a General Manager (Brian Spagnola) who was born and raised in Amsterdam, makes this a great place to play summer baseball...it was our intention to bring a quality level of collegiate baseball to Shuttleworth Park and provide entertainment and excitement throughout the season and that is what we did...the sense of cooperation and support exhibited by the community only confirms our belief that Amsterdam is an ideal home for the Mohawk Baseball Club..." B ellizzi, the head coach at The College of Saint Rose, has over the past quarter century, developed the Golden Knights into a national powerhouse at the NCAA Division II level. Saint Rose has made the NCAA Northeast Division II Regionals in 1994, 1995, 1997, and 2000. His 2000 team reached their ultimate goal by advancing to the NCAA Division II World Series in Montgomery, Alabama. Prior to that, at the NAIA level, Saint Rose made regional appearances in 1990 and 1991 and went to the 1990 NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. B ellizzi boasts a staggering career record of 720-367-2 at Saint Rose and has enjoyed success at the club, NAIA, and NCAA levels. He is currently the 17th all-time winningest NCAA II active head coach. He has had dozens of Saint Rose players continue their baseball careers at the professional level, including 1993 grad Glen Barker, who played for the Houston Astros at the major league level from 1999-2001. From 1988-1990, Bellizzi also guided the Schenectady Mohawks to a remarkable 87-37 record and won the league championship in 1988 with a 34-8 record. His 1988 team had seven players who were later selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

The Radio Equalizer -Brian Maloney
Seattle Radio Ratings Released Shakeup In Seattle
Rush-less Conservatives Win, Baseball Boost, Denver News
One of the more interesting results of the Arbitron Spring 2005 Phase II ratings has emerged in Seattle, where a news-talk shake-up is underway.
A seasonal Mariners baseball surge explains part of it, but there are larger trends at work, as well.
The ongoing conservative talk war between KVI and Limbaugh affiliate KTTH, has seen the former take the lead, despite lacking Rush's golden EIB microphone.
As mentioned here previously, the difference is simple: KVI has overcome the show's departure to KTTH by correctly emphasizing local talk shows, while the latter has failed to retool the lineup.
While KVI rose from a 2.5 to a 2.9, KTTH held at a 2.7, a recent low and down from a peak of 3.8 set last summer.

Does Haliburton sell balloons? Allan Iverson has fifteen hundred dollars worth of parking tickets. He is such the role model. First, eating tacos in the bathroom during team practice, then your hall of fame coach leaves, and now your about to lose the Olympics, but the reason that we love you Alan is this, you left your Cadillac in a handicapped parking spot at the airport for a week. And here’s the cherry on top, because the car was at the airport it couldn’t be towed due to some cockamamie law. So for a whole week, the gimp, the lepers, and the sick have been crawling on there hands and knees to get to the airport. Thank God there is a new T.V. show called LAX about LAX airport. Now I can watch other people lose their luggage. Play Ball Vince Carter wants out of Toronto after receiving the right to participate in GM duties. The problem is no one consulted Vince Carter before they made some key moves. Vince Carter is left out in the cold. Ken Griffey Jr. fucks up historic All Star Game. Ken Griffey Jr, it’s all psychosomatic. It’s in your head. Amazingly after Steroid allegations against sprinters Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery they can’t run so fast anymore and suddenly seem mortal. Baseball injuries are up up up because steroid use is down down down. And finally one of the Olson twins is anorexic. Doesn’t that mean they both are?

April 2002
Just a Fan: For some baseball "future stars," a rosy picture clouds By Joe Emanski In the four seasons that I spent as a member of the game-day staff for the Trenton Thunder, I got paid to watch baseball. I got paid, in fact, to watch so much baseball that by the time I "retired" from my duties as press-box attendant, I had ceased actually watching the ballgames. Would you believe that in my time, I met such famous people as former Boston Red Sox General Manager Dan Duquette, former Phillies pitcher Bruce Ruffin, and former WOR-TV weatherman Lloyd Lindsey Young?
I also met well-known Boston Globe sportswriter Bob Ryan, who has ties to the Trenton area, not to mention the same name as my uncle. (For the record, Bob Ryan-not my uncle-was relatively brusque. Perhaps the bright yellow "EVENT STAFF" shirt gave me the annoying air of a bumblebee.)
My personal favorite Thunder moment during that time was in an extra-inning game, when I convinced public address announcer Brandon Hardison to tell the crowd that it was time for the "traditional fourteenth-inning stretch." I had a week of vacation starting the moment that game ended, and I was the only one in the ballpark in an official capacity-including the players, who had a bus to catch-who didn't care if the game ever ended. The sportswriters, in particular, weren't too happy as the clock passed midnight and well beyond, their deadlines a distant memory.
