In the first 11 games of the season, Padres’ left fielder Ryan Klesko was lifted from the game eight times for “defensive purposes.” Now, granted Klesko has not played left field since he was with the Braves in 1999, but this was getting ridiculous. Here’s a little play-by-play of those games: In the first game of the season, Klesko was lifted in the fifth inning for pinch runner Kerry Robinson. If you ask me, and Bochy didn’t, the fifth inning is not the time to use a pinch runner. In the second game, Klesko was lifted in the seventh in a bizarre double switch.
