The ferocious hurler used brushback pitches and a sidearm fastball to intimidate batters, and his 154 hit batsmen remain a modern National League record. Drysdale won 25 games and the Cy Young Award in 1962, and set a record with 58 consecutive scoreless innings in 1968. In 1965 the all-around athlete was the Dodgers' only .300 hitter and in two separate seasons he hit seven home runs, tying the National League record. Quote "Batting against Don Drysdale is the same as making a date with a dentist."

Always linked with pitching mate Sandy Koufax, Drysdale is a Hall of Famer in his own right, winning 209 games as part of five pennant winners. His 58 2/3 innings shutout streak in 1968 was a record that stood for 20 years. Like Koufax, Drysdale retired young due to an arm injury, at the age of 32.

DON SUTTON
Few modern pitchers have generated as much controversy concerning their place in the Hall of Fame than Don Sutton, who never won a Cy Young Award, and garnered 20 wins just once. However, he did perform at a very high level for more than two decades, finishing in the top five in Cy Young voting five times (the same number of times as Robin Roberts, and four more than Whitey Ford or Catfish Hunter). Sutton won at least 15 games in a season twelve times and was part of four World Series pitching staffs on his way to 324 victories.

"If they knocked two of your guys down, I'd get four. You have to protect your hitters." "In Brooklyn, it was as though you were in your own little bubble. You were all part of one big, but very close family, and the Dodgers were the main topic of everybody's conversations and you could sense the affection people had for you. I don't know that such a thing exists anymore." "I hate all hitters. I start a game mad and I stay that way until it's over."
