Jack Anthony Clark (born November 10 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania ), also known as “Jack the Ripper”, is a former Major League Baseball player. From 1975 through 1992, Clark played for the San Francisco Giants St. Louis Cardinals New York Yankees San Diego Padres (1989-90) and Boston Red Sox (1991-92). He batted and threw right handed. A clutch hitter and consistent slugger , Clark was injury-prone for the first 13 years of his career. He started his major league career with the San Francisco Giants in as a right fielder . But Clark hated the Giants' Candlestick Park , a notoriously bad park for power hitters because of the wind coming off of the San Francisco Bay Clark was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals after the season, switching to first base to reduce risk of injury. He became the hero of the National League Championship Series with a dramatic Game Six ninth-inning three-run home run off Dodgers pitcher Tom Niedenfuer In Clark played with the New York Yankees, basically as a designated hitter , because of the presence of Don Mattingly at first base. Clark also played for the San Diego Padres in two seasons, returning to the

Cougars stun Lyons, 7-6 in 11 innings; Wheaton posts 9-4 win in game two
March 29, 2003 NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College baseball team saw its 16-game conference regular season winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, as visiting Clark University stunned the Lyons, 7-6 in 11 innings in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener at Sidell Stadium. Clark's victory was the first over Wheaton in 12 attempts. In game two, the hosts exploded for seven runs in the fourth en route to a 9-4 triumph over the Cougars. The nationally-ranked Lyons move to 8-4-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Clark goes to 6-11 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. Wheaton spotted the Cougars six runs before breaking into the scoring column, as the visitors used three hits, two hit batters and a Lyon error to tally five runs in the top of the second inning. Sophomore Todd Matthewson (N. Branford, CT/N. Branford), who went 4-for-4 on the day, posted a two-run single in the frame. Trailing 6-2 entering the bottom of the sixth, Wheaton responded with four runs on three hits, a hit batter and three Cougar errors. Junior Tim Ziakas (Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) knocked in two runs with a one-out double. With the scored knotted at six runs each, Clark pitcher Scott Archibald (Windham, CT/Windham) forced a fly out to first base to end the Wheaton rally. Following four scoreless innings in what was scheduled as a seven inning contest, Cougar junior Dave McNamara (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) started the 11th with a single. After a sacrifice bunt from Archibald and a strikeout, junior Michael Burnham (Hadley, MA/Hopkins Academy) drove a ground ball down the third base line in what would prove to be the game-winning hit, as McNamara scored from second. Archibald picked up the win in relief, striking out seven while giving up one earned run in six innings of work. Junior Trevor Alexander (Wilton, ME/Mt. Blue) suffered the loss, fanning two batters and allowing the one run in three innings of relief.

Wheaton nine extend winning streak after sweeping host Clark in NEWMAC doubleheader
March 27, 2004 WORCESTER, MA- The Wheaton College baseball team extended its winning streak to five games Saturday afternoon, as the Lyons opened their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schedule by sweeping host Clark University at Granger Field. Shooting for an unprecedented sixth consecutive conference championship, Wheaton defeated the Cougars, 10-4 and 5-4. The Blue and White raised their overall record to 6-7-1, while Clark falls below the .500 mark at 6-7 on the season. Game one saw Wheaton fall behind 4-1 after four innings, but for the second consecutive contest the Lyons produced most of their offensive damage in the late frames. Wheaton took advantage of four hits and two Cougar errors en route to a five-run sixth inning, spearheaded by a Tim Ziakas (Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) triple that gave the visitors a 5-4 lead that was not relinquished. Wheaton added four insurance runs in the top half of the seventh, as junior Keith Cooper (Swampscott, MA/The Pingree School) highlighted the inning with a two-run triple. Freshman pitcher Chris McDonough (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth), who entered the game in the bottom of the fourth, was credited with the first win of his young career. McDonough faced four batters in 1.1 innings of work, issuing one walk, while junior Mike Banda (Blairstown, NJ/Pope John XXIII) earned the save on two scoreless innings and one strikeout. Clark's Michael Levy (New Hyde Park, NY/Herricks) took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits with one strikeout in an inning of relief.
