HALL OF FAME INDUCTION Joe Ledford/The Star
Former Royals player George Brett Brett struggled to hold his emotions in check while thanking his brothers and others in a speech that lasted almost 18 minutes. Brett's speech mirrors his career
George Brett has always had a flair for the dramatic. So it was only fitting that, on the day he was catapulted into baseball immortality, Brett hit one out of the park. "He had the best speech up there," said Eva Piercey, from Overland Park. Full text of Brett's Hall of Fame induction speech
God, Robin, you don't know how lucky you were to go first. I have been sitting in the hot seat over here for about two hours wondering if I was going to be able to get through this thing. JOE POSNANSKI:
Hero's tears fill a city with pride

Everyone had come to see George Brett cry. It was Brettstock Sunday in Cooperstown, a festival of George, an open field crowded with Royals caps and powder blue jerseys and Brett streamers and Gates T-shirts and Buck O'Neil. The weather was Midwestern humid. Brotherly thoughts are poignant
It wasn't the part about his late father, the rigid disciplinarian who never passed along the praise that George Brett so strongly craved. And it wasn't the part about Charley Lau, his late mentor and batting coach whom Brett credits above everyone else for his illustrious baseball career.

Par's Sports Cards Welcome to Par's Sports Cards George Brett price list page. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send me E-mail at Parhomek@aol.com or call or write. I grew up as a 70's Royals fan and have collected Brett cards since 1978. I've dealt in sports cards since 1981. As you can see by my price lists, I don't deal in new cards much anymore. However, I am always looking for any Brett cards for my own collection as well as resale. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on his cards as I have developed and printed a George Brett Checklist Book which lists over 750 of his cards both alphabetically by company name and also by year. I have it listed at the beginning of the 1975 cards. If you have cards you can't identify or can't verify the year, please contact me and I will be happy to try and help. Thanks for visiting my page and good luck in your search for George Brett cards.

His fingerprint on Kansas City: Kids named Brett By JASON KING - The Kansas City Star
    Date: 07/24/99 22:30
For Curtis Bruning, girl problems in high school began with the radio in his gold 1972 LeMans. Seems Bruning, now 34, was determined to follow George Brett through each and every at-bat back in 1982. He never spun his tuner away from KKAN (1490 AM), home of the Kansas City Royals in his hometown of Phillipsburg, Kan. Bruning would drive around with his girlfriend and they'd listen to the Royals. On the way to dinner, to the movies, to a party. It was the Royals and Brett or nothing. Marcio Jose Sanchez/The Star There are many Kansas City area kids named after George Brett. Some of them posed in July with a life-sized cutout of Brett at Kauffman Stadium. "She always got mad at me because she wanted to listen to music," Bruning said. "But George Brett was the man. She just didn't understand that. I told her back then, though I was 17 that if I ever had a son, I was going to name him Brett." Eleven years later, on July 8, 1993, Bo Brett Bruning was born.
