Jake Plummer and Thomas Jones should be thrilled that the Cardinals selected Leonard Davis
By Ron Pollack, Editor-in-chief
April 21, 2001
Leonard Davis RB Thomas Jones was the Cardinals first-round pick last year and was something of a bust. QB Jake Plummer was a second-round pick for Arizona in 1997. After showing early promise as a pro, Plummer has regressed his last two seasons. Davis is a guy that can help both of them. Any time that you add a potentially premier offensive tackle to a team, the quarterback and running back have to benefit. Jones should especially benefit since Davis looks like he can be a dominating run blocker. Jones, of course, first has to win the starting job outright. Michael Pittman gained more yards on the ground last year than Jones did, but the guess here is that Jones will eventually be given a chance to carry a bigger share of the load. How much Davis helps Plummer could tie in to where Davis is played since some scouts feel he could struggle with pass protection if he is put at left tackle. If Davis becomes a student of the game, works hard, has his weight under control and builds his stamina the sky will be the limit. Will this happen? We’ll have to wait and see. What there is no question about is the fact that Davis is big. In fact, "Big" is his nickname given his 6-6, 365 pound size.

Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer addressed the media at Dove Valley today, in preparation for Monday night's game against the Bengals. Check out the full transcripts.
Complete transcript from the Jake Plummer media session, following Thursday afternoon's practice session at Dove Valley.
On starting the season with a 5-1 record
“It feels good. Obviously, to start the season you want to start fast. We’ve got a few close wins there. We got a big one last week against Oakland. A division game is always good to win, especially on the road too. We’re feeling good about where we’re at. We’re not happy. Obviously, we need to keep pushing hard. We’ve got another team this week that’s searching for a victory, and they’re going to give us their best shot. It’s their first Monday night game there in a long time, so we’re going to be ready for them to come out as hard as you’ll see them come out all year. We’ve got to be ready. It’s going to be a tough game, and hopefully we’ll go down there and pull it out.”
On if he had thought about Monday night’s game being a “trap game”
“I don’t think so with the guys on this team. I really don’t think that it’s crossed our minds at all. I mentioned the fact that obviously

Liquid Plummer
Four interceptions by Denver quarterback leave Broncos' chances circling drain
By Jerry Magee
UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER December 6, 2004
SEAN M. HAFFEY / Union-Tribune Chargers linebacker Donnie Edwards separates Broncos tight end Jeb Putzier from a pass in the fourth quarter.
At that juncture, with 4:23 left in a wet and raw afternoon at Qualcomm Stadium, quarterback Jake Plummer had an option, assigned him by coach Mike Shanahan: to hand off or, given a certain defensive coverage, to arch a pass on a fade route toward wide receiver Rod Smith. Plummer looked. He saw the defensive alignment for which he had been alerted, what he would call "bump-man." He chose to exercise his option. And as his actions would for him throughout the afternoon, this one turned out disastrously.
