Feedback Let us know what you think Home Club football championship reports Athea's Brian Ahern has his path stopped by two Hospital/Herbertstown players. Monaleen stay on course for title Monaleen 0-15 Claughaun 1-08 MARKSMEN Maurice Horan and Muiris Gavin, ensured that Monaleen kept on course for a place in the semi finals of the Limerick senior football championship, when sharing 10 points in their side's win over Claughaun, at St Patrick's Grounds. Defeat puts a lot of pressure on the Childer's Road side in their bid to qualify. While Gavin and Horan ran the show for the winners, Claughaun, without Leo O'Connor, had their own scoring hero in Wesley Fitzgerald, who had all but two of their scores. Monaleen continue to be a fancy to regain the crown they lost to Drom Broadford last summer, but their other front runners need to take the pressure from the big two. They started brightly with a couple of points from play from Gavin, but Fitzgerald kept Claughaun ticking over with two from frees. Gavin (2) and Horan (3) saw the winners pull away, but Fitzgerald was on target again for Claughaun, to leave it 0-7 to 0-3 at the interval. | |
