In a move this columnist called for over two months ago, the Cleveland Browns have rid themselves of their embattled head coach. I asked for his resignation on my desk by Tuesday at 9 a.m., and almost exactly two months to the day it arrived. Let us take a look back at the sadness that has plagued the past four seasons of the Browns before we look ahead to our glorious future. Davis was brought in to replace an ineffective Chris Palmer, becoming the second coach of the "new" Browns. He promised to bring us a Super Bowl, and to do it with solid defense. It's ironic that Davis' last game witnessed a defense that gave up 58 points to our in-state rivals, the Bengals. | |
