Renegades quarterback sets Ottawa football record
Joseph becomes first pivot in Ottawa football history to throw TD pass in 15 straight games
Renegades quarterback Kerry Joseph, playing in his first CFL season, has etched his name in the Ottawa football record book.
With a perfect 27-yard touchdown pass to Sherrod Gideon in the first quarter during Ottawa's crucial 21-15 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Thanksgiving afternoon at Frank Clair Stadium, Joseph completed a touchdown pass in 15 consecutive games.
Joseph, 30, now owns the Ottawa pro record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass. He shared the record with Canadian Football Hall of Famer Russ Jackson who threw touchdown passes in 14 consecutive games during the 1966 and 1967 seasons.

*denotes unanimous selection KERRY JOSEPH (Outstanding Player) - In his first season of Canadian football, Kerry Joseph has been transformed from a former National Football League free safety into one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the league. Joseph, a 30-year-old native of New Iberia, Louisiana, began the year as the back-up to Dan Crowley, but made the most of his opportunity as No. 1 Renegades pivot after Crowley's release. In his first CFL start, July 10 at Frank Clair Stadium against the Toronto Argonauts, Joseph completed 20 of 30 passes for a team-record 332 yards, threw one touchdown pass on a spectacular 50-yard flea-flicker to Demetris Bendross, and scored two rushing touchdowns of his own, leading the Renegades to a 34-32 victory.

    1971 Topps Football Cards
By Patrick Mondout Topps and Kellogg's both produced sets of NFL football cards for 1971. Canada's O-Pee-Chee also produced a set of Canadian Football League (CFL) cards featuring a scarce rookie card of Joe Theismann. The Topps cards were the their last set to feature nothing but players and checklists - no record breakers, league leaders or other subsets. It was the last football set from Topps without subsets and was released in two series. Specially marked wax packs featured game card inserts similar to the 1968 Topps Baseball game inserts (see Gale Sayers, below). The other packs came with one of 32 pinups (see below) - similar to the posters from AFC players were featured on red-bordered cards while NFC stars were on blue-bordered cards. All-Pros were on red and blue bordered cards (see Dick Butkis, below). Rookie cards include Mean Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Ken Houston, Willie Lanier and middle linebacker Marty Shottenheimer.
