The webmaster of jasongamble.com (not Jason Gamble himself; he's too busy practising and working out) replied to my question asking why he wants me to remove the link to his site. He said that he thought it was wrong to link to jasongamble.com and give people the wrong impression (thereby implying that Jason being gay would be a bad thing.) He also said it was wrong to link to jasongamble.com and use the site for a purpose for which it wasn't intended (implying that jacking off to pictures of him while imagining his beefy, 6'3", 310 pound body snuggling up to me is bad. Is it so wrong to want to make someone as handsome as he is feel good?) So I did an informal poll on the #bearcave last night, asking whether I should keep the link or not. After the flurry of "Oh my god, he's hot!" responses, most bears thought I should keep the link . So I will.

RU: England gamble on Robbo
FITNESS FIGHT: Jason Robinson JASON Robinson has been named at full-back for England's final Lloyds TSB Six Nations Championship clash with Italy in Rome on Sunday afternoon. The Sale Shark missed the game against Wales, and his club's defeat in the Zurich Premiership at Newcastle last Sunday, because of an abdominal muscle injury. But England manager Clive Woodward is gambling on the former Wigan Warrior passing a fitness test. Robinson certainly hadn't been ready to play last weekend but is making steady progress. He is likely to withdraw himself, however, if he feels that he isn't right. If he plays, it won't be his first experience of playing in Italy. He played there for Bath against Treviso in the European Cup during his brief stint with the West Country club. Charlie Hodgson has been named on the bench, having recovered from the ankle injury that kept him sidelined for the games against France and Wales. Sale have England involvement today (Wednesday) with eight players involved in the England Schools squad for the 18s group international against Wales at Pownall Park, Macclesfield (kick off 3pm).

Microsoft's Video Gamble
Microsoft is going cable on the video game industry – announcing that it will bundle its video chat software and hardware together with its XLive service, creating an all-in-one communication package for its users, according to this Slashdot post. The video conferencing product is slated only for a Japanese release right now (which is funny considering Microsoft's complete failure in the Asian markets), but if its successful at all, expect to see it making its way to U.S. shores soon. It's a fair guess that interactive video chatting will be big. Sony's EyeToy sold two million devices last year, making it a surprise hit overseas, and it drew huge crowds when it was demonstrated in the U.S. The other big benefit to the bundling is that consumers are increasingly expecting to get one bill for their information delivery services. Cable and satellite companies are involved in a big cat-and-mouse game with consumers, each trying to bundle more communication services together in one-price packaging (Internet, television, wireless, and phone). When every piece of information is a zero and one as it is in a digital world, it becomes infinitely easier to package up different types of information (voice, data, visual) and deliver it over one network.

December 3rd UIS Men drop two straight at home By Jason Stuebe The UIS men have hit a bit of a rut in their road to conference play, dropping five straight games, two of which were in the usually friendly confines of the Assembly Closet. What the Stars lacked in points in their 66-76 defeat against the Peacocks of Upper Iowa, they more than made up for in effort. After digging a hole in the first half, the Stars attempted a coup of sorts late in the second half, as a pair of turnovers forced by UIS freshman Aaron Anderson led to two Antonio Puckett threes and a basket by Johnny Tate. The run was broken, however, when Johnny Tate went down hard on the baseline twisting his ankle and effectively killing the mood. He would later return to the game, though with a noticeable limp. The Stars moved on, nevertheless, and faced rival Olivet Nazarene University at home in a game that featured shoddy officiating, heated tempers, and an ejected UIS assistant coach, all culminating with a 67-78 loss for the Stars. The Stars were out-shot, out-rebounded and just flat out-played.

Champion coach to lead Sycamore football
Prep sports column by Tom Gamble Tom Adams, who guided Springfield South to three consecutive Western Ohio League championships and the school's only state playoff berth in 1996, is to be announced as Sycamore's head football coach today. Adams, approved by the Sycamore Community School District Board of Education at a Wednesday meeting, posted a 46-35 record in eight seasons at Springfield South - including an 8-2 mark last fall. Adams replaces Jim Allison, who is retiring from teaching this spring. In four seasons, Allison led Sycamore to a 22-19 record and elevated the Aviators to the upper echelon of the Greater Miami Conference. After a 1-9 record in Allison's first season, the Aviators have won at least six games the last three years. Allison's best season was in '96, when Sycamore went 8-2 in the regular season - including wins over Cincin nati-area powers Colerain and Princeton - and earned a playoff berth. Adams, a former assistant at the University of Dayton and Springfield North and Kettering Fairmont high schools, is known for a wide-open offense and his ability to develop talent. While at Springfield South, Adams coached Dee Miller, now a receiver at Ohio State; Chris Wallace, a quarterback at Toledo; and Donta' Greene, a tailback who is a Toledo recruit.

Wisconsin stops Ohio State's 19-game winning streak
By Jon Spencer

Jason Molyet Ohio State's Will Smith (left) consoles teammate Chris Gamble after Ohio State lost to Wisconsin 17-10 Saturday.
MADISON, Wisc. A victory flame that had flickered often during a 19-game winning streak finally got doused in a relentless rain by a relentless bunch of Wisconsin Badgers in Camp Randall Stadium. Just when it looked like Ohio State was going to pull off another late miracle, the No. 23 Badgers answered a game-tying touchdown with a 79-yard scoring grab by transplated Ohioan Lee Evans for Saturday night's 17-10 victory.
