If larry csonka s football career path could be graphed like a stock on WallStreet it might resemble the pattern of a former corporation named Enron.

(Authentic Reproduction)
Among the most enduring symbols of the previously mentioned Enron corporation were the decadent five foot tall stainless steel "crooked E" corporate logos that graced the lobby of their headquarters. The logos once stood proud and tall while reflecting the image of corporate excellence. Unfortunately they ultimately became a national symbol for greed, excess, corruption and ineptitude (and as such, the collectable value of the actual Enron logos skyrocketed and they later commanded a handsome price at the public bankruptcy auction). The story behind "Zonk's" 1976 Giants helmet (as reproduced above) is somewhat comparable to the fate of the aforementioned Enron corporate logos. The rich navy blue shell coupled with the simple but striking "fire engine" red center stripe tastefully reflected the style reminiscent of the team's 1950s and 1960s glory years. This was a period when the entire Giant organization was committed to excellence. The, now rare, aluminum forged Dungard facemask and bull ring nose protector are the same type Larry wore with the much heralded Dolphin teams of the early 1970s. In recent years the Giants have made strong efforts to recapture the tradition associated with their glory years. In 1981 the flanking white stripes were eliminated. The facemasks were converted back to standard gray and the original "ny" logos reappeared in 2000. There is even talk of moving the team back to Manhattan. Let's get rid of that trendy metallic flake paint and bring back those classy 2" rounded helmet numerals and the restoration will be complete.

Larry Csonka
Lawrence Richard Csonka , born December 25 in Stow, Ohio was a punishing American football player in the late 1960's and 1970's. Larry Csonka (pronounced "ZON-ka") emerged to prominence after being an All-American at Syracuse University , where the bruising fullback broke many of the school's rushing records, a number of which where held by the great Jim Brown. In 1968, he was a #1 draft pick by the American Football League 's Miami Dolphins , and by the 1970's he became one of the most feared runners in professional football. Standing 6'3" and 235 lbs., he was one of the biggest runners of his day and pounded through the middle of field with relative ease. He was also incredibly sure-handed, rarely fumbling the ball or dropping a pass. Larry formed a great relationship with running back Jim Kiick and the two were referred to as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid . Together with Eugene "Mercury" Morris, the Dolphins had one of football's best rushing attacks. It led the Dolphins to 3 consecutive Super Bowls in the early 70's, with Miami winning 2 of them. Csonka rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of those years. During the 1972 season, the Dolphins became the only team since the AFL/NFL merger to go undefeated, and Csonka was an instrumental part of the success, rushing for a career best 1,117 yards. The following season, the Dolphins won a second straight title and "Zonk", as he was known, was the Super Bowl MVP. After 1974, he had a contract dispute with the Dolphins and became one of three Dolphins, along with Kiick and Paul Warfield, to jump to the fledgling

larry csonka SUPER BOWL VII CLASSIC (1973) Poster Miami Dolphins 1972 week-out performance, but football fans everywhere will never forget his MVP
http://www.sportsposterwarehouse.com/warehouse/csonka02pf.htm
Larry Csonka "Super Bowl VII Classic" - Photofile Inc. From small-town Ohio, to a Syracuse Orangemen star, to NFL first-round draft pick, to Super Bowl glory, to the Hall of Fame! "Zonk" was the premier power runner of his generation, bulldozing opposing defenses and chewing up over 8,000 yards of prime NFL real estate in his career. Dolphins fans remember him for his week-in, week-out performance, but football fans everywhere will never forget his MVP performance in Super Bowl VIII, or his grinding 112-yard outing a year earlier in Super Bowl VII. This beautiful poster, published exclusively for SportsPosterWarehouse.com , features Larry during that historic Super Bowl game - January 14, 1973, when the Dolphins topped the Washington Redskins 14-7 to cap their incredible perfect 1972 season. While Safety Jake Scott took home the MVP in that defense-dominated game, Csonka was the offensive star, grinding out yards on plays like this on that glorious afternoon at the L.A. Coliseum. The action is fierce in this historic old-school image, bringing you back to the days when real men played football, and the Dolphins were champions of the world! Printed from the original photographic negative, and complete with an official

About this image

Michael Weinreb on how to beat the bogeyman
I heard two stories during the same period in my life that I remember anytime I appear to be headed for a world of hurt, be it in love or a game of squash. One of these stories is from Larry Csonka, a professional football Hall of Famer, a 240-pound brick shithouse of a fullback; the other is from my friend Damian, a genial sportscaster who is built like a suit on a hanger.
"What did that do?" I asked.
After that, everything changed. His grandmother offered him a flashlight. Little Larry waved it away. That was the day, he said, that he became an NFL football player.
This is the story:
When he was 25, Damian lived at home with his mother and father, and one day, while relieving himself in a bathroom with psychedelic wallpaper that had been peeling since about 1968, he happened to discover blood in his stool. This part of the story is not that funny. But watching Damian tell it, his thin arms flapping, it becomes an entertainment. After this, Damian thought he had prostate cancer, which is also not that funny, and so he went to see his uncle, who is a doctor.
The party had come to a halt by this point. The
