Set to go: Brooks says his career is alive, well
By Andy Fenelon
Packer Plus editor April 28, 1999 Green Bay Over the last two months, the obits were appearing in newspapers so frequently that most people assumed Robert Brooks' football career was dead. But the Green Bay Packer wide receiver showed up at his team's minicamp last weekend with a smile and a message for those who doubted his return this season from back surgery. "You can write whatever you want to write, think whatever you want to think, say whatever you want to say," Brooks said. "But I know what I have right here in my mind and I know what I've got right here in my heart." And what's in Brooks' heart is a feeling he'll be playing wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers in 1999.

49. Spin - 081000 - Favre, Dilon, Smith, Thigpen, Sehorn, Brooks
NFL football news, daily opinion, editorial commentary and fan polls. Denver is trying to persuade wide receiver robert brooks to come out of retirement
http://archive.profootballweekly.com/content/archives/features_2000/spin_081000.
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000
Brett Favre Corey Dillon Kevin Smith Yancey Thigpen Jason Sehorn Robert Brooks ProFootballWeekly.com contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum answers questions about the NFL's hottest topics.
Brett Favre
Brett Favre probably doesn't feel like a young kid these days. That's mostly because of the bandages, ice packs, Band-Aids and other medical supplies constantly stuck to his right arm. Now in his 10th season, the three-time MVP is suffering from a variety of annoying minor ailments, ranging from blisters on his fingers to a perpetually swollen thumb that have turned his trademark enthusiasm into quiet frustration. The latest affliction is elbow tendinitis, which sidelined him for part of the Packers' morning practice on Wednesday. He is quick to point out that none of the problems would keep him out of a regular season game, but the frustration remains. "After 10 years of playing, the way I look at it, I'm entitled to a little tendinitis," Favre said. "It hasn't got any worse, and I don't want it to get any worse. I'm going to throw every day, and if it's feeling good, I won't back off." Asked about Favre's health, Packers head coach Mike Sherman said, "Any time that guy's not 100 percent, you're concerned, but I'm not overly concerned about this. "I mean, if he has a hangnail on his left toe, I'm concerned ... but this is just tendinitis."

51. Red Zone
And it will take longer than a real game of professional football to do it. robert brooks C Chmura Mark C Chris Sanders U Chris Chandler C
http://www.rpweld3.com/reviews/redzone.html
Red Zone
Setting: The modern world of American Football. Build a team and set it up against your opponent's.
Game Play: Lousy. Drafting a team is easy and cool. Players take turns picking their favorite cards out of their deck with the only restriction being that you cannot use someone that your opponent already has in play. That's where the joy ends. First, you do a kickoff, where one player flips the top card of his deck and reads the K value in yards. The other player flips the top card of his deck and reads the KR value. Calculate where the ball is for the first play using the formula K-20+KR = Ball. Now, let's see what the first play is. Put any one play card in your hand facedown on the table. Your opponent will play a card from his hand which has a defense on it. You each reveal these cards and then flip a card off your decks.
Your card tells us what color your play was. His card tells him what color his defense was. Now we look at one of the two 3-page charts included in the game and compare your Green Fullback Drive to his Yellow Stunt defense and we get a number. The number is 2. That is how many yards the ball moved forward. That is all explained in the first 12 pages of the rulebook. After that come 32 more pages explaining what to do if you get a letter code (DL, LB, OL, RB, WR, F, Long, INC, INT, DB, DL*, LB*, or QB).
Using each and every one of these codes allows you to simulate interceptions, tackles, fumbles and injuries just like a real game of professional football. And it will take longer than a real game of professional football to do it. This game is for stats-obsessed football junkies who are living without power. It is hideously complex and involves a lot of table-checking. Apparently they forgot to write in any action or excitement.

Bob Brooks, 78 By The Standard Staff - 05/27/2005
Robert E. "Bob" Brooks died Wednesday evening at his home in Butte. He was born on June 3, 1926, in Butte, the son of Neal and Myrtle (McDonald) Brooks. He attended schools in Livingston and graduated from Park County High School, where he excelled in football.
During his senior year in 1943, both he and his longtime friend John Brady enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was assigned to G Company, 3rd Battalion, 28th Regiment, 5th Marine Division. On Feb. 18, 1945, they were sent to Iwo Jima where they encountered intense fire fights facing Mount Suribachi. He was discharged from the Marines in 1946, and returned to Butte where he attended and graduated from the Montana School of Mines with an engineering degree.
Bob married the former Betty Garland on Dec. 28, 1946, in Bozeman, and recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Following his graduation from Tech, Bob went to work in Cody, Wyo., for Marathon Oil, later he moved to Spokane, and then to West Virginia where he worked for Kaiser Aluminum, finally retiring to Butte. Bob was instrumental in establishing the Southwest Montana Marine Corps League in Butte, along with the many activities which the league supports, especially the Toys for Tots Program, which has had huge success in southwest Montana. He was the first commandant of the detachment and with his insight and leadership it continues to thrive to this day.

60. Harvard Business School Bulletin: Robert T. Brooks
The Reverend robert brooks s small, crowded office at Christ Episcopal Church in letter in football, brooks served in the Navy and then entered HBS.
http://www.alumni.hbs.edu/bulletin/1998/october/success/brooks.html
While the contrasts loom large, it is clear from the passion with which Brooks discusses his work that his decision to leave the world of investment management for the church was the right move. On a typical day, the warm, affable minister might meet with a couple planning to be married, deliver communion to a housebound parishioner, help prepare a meal at a soup kitchen, and work on his weekly sermon. As rector of Christ Church, he plays a vital role in most of the big moments in the lives of the one hundred families who regularly participate in church activities - baptizing babies, delivering graveside eulogies, and participating in everything that happens in between. A native of metropolitan Washington, D.C., Brooks was brought up Episcopalian but stopped going to church when he entered Harvard College. After graduating cum laude with a degree in English and a varsity letter in football, Brooks served in the Navy and then entered HBS. It was not until he was long established as a financial counselor that he returned to the church - with the primary goal of giving his two children the spiritual education he had come to appreciate in his own formative years. When he began teaching Sunday school, however, he soon found that "teaching those kids was more important to me than what I was doing in the investment business." In the early 1980s, when a young priest asked him if he had considered becoming a minister, Brooks admitted he had, but explained that he thought he could contribute more by maintaining his day job and devoting his free time to his parish. "When my friend responded, ÔI don't think that's the total answer for you,' I knew he was right," says Brooks, who went home that night and began discussing with his family the calling he felt he could no longer ignore.
