    Running Back Sleepers
Tatum Bell averaged 5.3 yards per carry as a rookie. By Rick Kamla
Senior Editor August 1, 2005 Before we detail the 10 running back sleepers who will turn good drafts into great drafts and morph contenders into champions, I want to endorse a pair of veteran running backs who get slept on by fantasy owners all around the world.
They are, as I like to call them, The Veterans.
In one of the magazines I've seen this summer, only two of the 25 "experts" had C-Mart ranked in the top 10. The ultra-consistent Martin earned a cumulative ranking of 16. Whatever.
I realize Martin is 32 years old, but he comes off his best season, a season in which he led the NFL with 1,697 rushing yards and added 14 touchdowns. No one, not even Jerry Rice and Walter Payton in their prime, works harder than Martin, who takes each offseason as a personal challenge to improve his body. This offseason was no different, and his numbers won't look any different in 2005. Yet again, you'll get roughly 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns from this future Hall of Famer.
Dillon turns 30 in October, but as he proved last year in rushing for 1,635 yards and 12 touchdowns, his gas tank is far from E. Now, it bears reiterating because a lot of faddish experts forget this very important fact, but Dillon finalizes drives for the dynastic New England Patriots. You know, the team that won three of the last four Super Bowls. You know, the team with the best balance and consistency on both sides of the ball. You know, the best coached team in the league.

Brady and the Patriots clinched home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a 31-0 victory against the Buffalo Bills Saturday at Foxboro. The four-year veteran posted a season-best 122.9 passer rating by connecting on 21 of 32 attempts (65.6 percent) for four touchdowns without an interception. Brady's sparkling rating marked the sixth time he surpassed a 100.0 rating in 2003. "One of the things that Tom has really done a good job of the last couple of years is managing the empty backfield, the 'no huddle' procedure, and that really came into play Saturday," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. "He made a lot of good decisions not only the throws, but in terms of just orchestrating the whole procedure."
