Digital electronic imaging devices, like the CCD ( c harge c oupled d evice) allow the amateur astronomer to "see" the wonders of our universe as never before. The CCD affords amazing views of the night sky even for amateur astronomers with modest telescopes living in large light-polluted metropolitan areas. The CCD also permits precise astrometry, spectroscopy, photometry, and other types of scientific research for even amateur astronomers. Of course, the CCD can be used to obtain beautiful and interesting astrophotography. This webpage is devoted to showing examples of astrophotography that this author, an amateur astrophotographer, has taken with the CCD. Many of these images have been taken from my backyard in Chandler, Arizona a suburb of Phoenix where the light pollution approximates 4th magnitude skies. I hope you will find this webpage to be interesting and useful. NEW IMAGES

ASCOM Initiative Mission Statement
  • Establish a set of interface standards for scriptable or programmable low level control of astronomical instruments and related devices, and promote the use of these standard drivers from astronomy- related software applications. Provide a freely available set of instrument drivers that implement the standards established in (1). These drivers must be usable apart from any particular application, and directly from Windows Active Script languages and Automation based tools. Promote (but not absolutely require) open-source implementations of the drivers in (2). Promote scriptability of astronomy-related software without standardizing application level interfaces (which would inhibit innovation). ASCOM does provide

Polish Society of Amateur Astronomers WARSAW DIVISION , ul. BARTYCKA 18, 00-716 WARSZAWA PSAA was founded by famous Polish astronomers in Warsaw in 1919. Since 1948 the seat of the Headquarters of PSAA is Cracow. The Warsaw Division of PSAA was created in 1928. Our group undertakes many activities in order to promote astronomical knowledge. Since 1978 the Warsaw Division has its seat in the Nicholas Copernicus' Astronomical Centre (CAMK - ul. Bartycka 18, Warsaw).

Latest informations concerning meetings, lectures, exhibitions and ephemerides of interesting astronomical phenomena.
    POKAZY NIEBA
    (SKY SHOW)
During evenings with clear sky, on Mondays, we show the sky by telescope. If it is necessary, this activity is being undertaken also in other week-days. In case of phenomena of special importance or spectacularity the observations may be organised in other places.
    OBSERWACJE
    (OBSERVATIONS)
Apart from showing the sky, the members of our group undertake various kinds of observations, e.g. of lunar and solar eclipses, occultations of the stars and the planets by the Moon, occultations of the stars by asteroids, measurements of variable star magnitude. We cooperate with home and foreign organisations realising analoguous observations. The results of our observations have scientific value and they are published in home and foreign astronomical magazines. During some of the observations we use CCD cameras and Electronic Time Inserter allowing tvideo registration of events.
