Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali Y Domenech (1904-1989) Spanish painter, writer, and member of the surrealist movement. He was born in Figueras, Catalonia, and educated at the School of Fine Arts, Madrid. After 1929 he espoused surrealism, although the leaders of the movement later denounced Dalí as overly commercial. Dalí's paintings from this period depict dream imagery and everyday objects in unexpected forms, such as the famous limp watches in The Persistence of Memory. Dalí moved to the United States in 1940, where he remained until 1948. His later paintings, often on religious themes, are more classical in style. They include Crucifixion and The Sacrament of the Last Supper.
Dalí's paintings are characterized by meticulous draftsmanship and realistic detail, with brilliant colors heightened by transparent glazes. Dalí designed and produced surrealist films, illustrated books, handcrafted jewelry, and created theatrical sets and costumes. Among his writings are ballet scenarios and several books, including The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí (1942) and Diary of a Genius (1965).

"The only difference between me and a madman is that I am not mad" - Salvador Dali (1904-1989)
"Taking influences from Freud to Hitler and blending them with his own unique perspectives, Salvador Dali provides observation of our shared illusion never before realized and never seen since." S o, whats all this Dali stuff about then? Well, basically it's about a man who could realise and implement deep-dream imagery on canvas. The aim of this site is not just to showcase his visual artworks, as there are many places on the 'net where you can go do that. My purpose for this collection of Dali pages is to give you an insight into a broader picture of Dali, where people new to Dali can read a bit about his history, and view a collection of his most famous work, as well as art by him which isn't so wel l recognised.

Salvador Dali Art
Salvador Dali Art
Dali, Salvador (May 11, 1904, Figueres, Spain - January 23, 1989, Figueres, Spain), one of the greatest Spanish painters of all time, and one of the most important figures in the history of the modern art movement. Both Dali's extraordinary talent and odd personality helped him to rise above the rest of the Surrealists of the 20th century. Dali greatly popularized Surrealism in Europe and the U.S. with his unique painting styles and unusual ideology. His artwork and influences can be seen almost everywhere around the world. His explicit and controversial Surrealist paintings are some of the most famous, and infamous, paintings of the 1900's, and his rebellious and independent attitude towards art and politics set him aside from other painters, leaving a mark on Surrealist painting forever Few artists have had a greater impact on 20'th art than Salvador Dali. He is widely acknowledged to be a pioneer - and the living embodiment - of Surrealist art, a bold movement that emerged in Europe in the 1920's and flourished for generations thereafter, embracing not only fine art but literature, music, philosophy, psychology, and even popular culture. Surrealism , art movement that explored and celebrated the realm of dreams and the unconscious mind through the creation of visual art, poetry, and motion pictures. Among surrealism's most important contributions was the invention of new artistic techniques that tapped into the artist's unconscious mind.

is considered as the greatest artist of the surrealist art movement and one of the greatest masters of art of the twentieth century. During his lifetime the public got a picture of an eccentric paranoid. His personality caused a lot of controversy. After his death in 1989 his name remained in the headlines. But this time it was not funny at all. The art market was shaken by reports of great numbers of fraudulent Dali prints. What's all behind it?

surrealism, dali, art posters, salvador dali Surrealism is a style in which fantastic visual imagery from the subconscious mind is used with no intention of making the artwork logically comprehensible. Founded by Andre Breton in 1924, it was a primarily European movement which attracted many members of the chaotic Dada movement. It was similar in some respects to the late 19th-century Symbolist movement, but deeply influenced by the psychoanalytic work of Freud and Jung. The Surrealist circle was made up of many of the great artists of the 20th century, including Jean Arp, Max Ernst, Giorgio de Chirico, Man Ray, Joan Miro, and Rene Magritte.
