Extractions: by David Read (IDG) When users consider Mac performance, they tend to focus on the PowerPC processor and prospects for speedier G4 chips. But many other components affect system speed, and one of thesememoryis poised for advances that could lead to at least modestly improved performance in future generations of Apple hardware. Macs currently use stock PC100 RAM, but high-end PCs are employing a new memory called PC133 that increases bandwidth from 100MHz to 133MHz. In addition, some high-end models from Dell and other manufacturers use Rambus RAM (RDRAM), a new proprietary memory from Rambus that's up to 60 percent faster than PC133. Slated to appear at year's end is Double Data Rate RAM (DDR RAM), which will at least double PC100 bandwidth.

DOWNLOAD We're the only company with Macintosh emulation software that allows Macintosh programs to run on non-Macintoshes without using Apple's Intellectual Property. We've written the fastest synthetic 680x0 CPU News from July 5th 2005 ARDI has been dormant for years. I, Clifford Matthews , am ARDI's founder, and I have been doing non-emulation consulting since 2002. Although ARDI has had several employees and contractors earlier in its life, I'm the only one left. During the last few years, I've been an expensive consultant on projects that are completely unrelated to Macintosh emulation. As such, although I intended to tie up ARDI's loose ends, I instead spent my time meeting my client's needs during the work week and being a father and husband instead of doing ARDI work on my off hours. Apple's switch to Intel processors and their pending retirement of the Classic environment has prompted me to dust off the and Executor source code and see if there's a useful role for it in the future. Since Mac OS X is a much better operating system than Classic, and since Mac OS X on Intel will support Carbon applications, I don't see a need for our technology running on future Apple Intel hardware.
