Van 1899 tot 1909 was hij harmonieleraar aan de conservatoria van Brussel en Antwerpen, daarna werd hij inspecteur van het Belgisch muziekonderwijs. Hij maakte van deze functie dankbaar gebruik om alles aan te wenden wat tot verbetering van de muzikale situatie in Vlaanderen kon leiden. Tevens was hij muziekrecensent van Le Soir (1906-1914) en van Le Midi. Hij componeerde opera's ( Prinses Zonneschijn, 1903), kamermuziek en muziek voor orkest ( De zee, 1890), voor harmonie- en fanfareorkesten en voor amateurkoren. Ook schreef hij leerboeken als Traité d'harmonie (1919) en Manuel de musique militaire (1926).

Composed largely of letters received from prominent French artists of the 20th century, the papers of French poet and critic Georges Hugnet document his career and personal life. One notable work contained in these papers is a manuscript of , one of the earliest French Resistance publications. Material written in French and English. Biographical Sketch Georges Hugnet, French poet and critic, was born in Paris in 1906. He spent most of his early childhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in 1913 returned to Paris to attend boarding school at Saint-Louis-de-Gonazgue. He later attended coll¨ge at Janson-de-Sailly in Saint-Malo, the childhood home of his mother and favorite vacation spot during his youth.
