This exhibition highlights the moral messages communicated to people of the late Middle Ages and early Reformation through the medium of prints published in Northern Europe. It features some of the most popular religious themes and Biblical stories of the period, and explores how artists represented them for the moral and religious education of the public. The stories told by the prints begin with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and end with Death and the Apocalypse. The exhibition offers a glimpse of the lives of people at the time; their beliefs and fears, their attitudes to life and death, and their sense of humour.
