It's a day for the whole community to come together and a perfect opportunity to catch up with old faces. The day's star attraction was 80s pop-diva, Jenny Morris. Jenny treated the adoring crowd to a hit-filled performance, showing the amazing vocal talents that have helped her sell half a million records. Her laid-back performance included several classics including "She Has To Be Loved", "You I Know" and "Beggar on the Street of Love". Mark Trevorrow, the man otherwise known as Bob Downe, gave his alter-ego a rest and treated the crowd to a selection of songs from his new album, 'It's about Time' (ABC Music). Doggywood was again one of the day's standout features. Aunty Mavis and Chelsea Bun presented the 'Miss Puppy Award' to a cute little canine adopted only that morning from the Sydney Dogs' Home, which was also had a stall at the park. The award for 'Best Dressed Dog' went to 'Nicko' - a fabulous bitzer dressed in rainbow coloured sequined shorts. The award for 'Fair Day's Most Fabulous' went to Diamond Solitaire, who looked amazing in her highly original outfit which was a recreation of the 'Metamorphosis' logo for this year's Mardi Gras. "What better way to honour fabulous Mardi Gras than with a fabulous 3D version of the poster," she said upon being crowned 'Most Fabulous'. Runner-up was Mandy Delarenta who opted for a 1950s inspired look, while Mystique Jewel took out third place in an outfit featuring Indian-style feathers.

Mark Trevorrow received the A. B. Wood medal for his work in oceanographic and fisheries acoustics in the Ocean Science and Productivity Division. The Institute of Acoustics in the United Kingdom gives the award annually, in collaboration with the Acoustical Society of America. "Within the field of acoustics, this award is prestigious recognition for a young scientist who shows excellence in work and great promise for the future," Minister Anderson said. David Farmer, Senior Scientist in the Ocean Science and Productivity Division provided leadership and garnered financial support for all the work. "Trevorrow’s research investigates acoustic techniques for measuring tiny air bubbles near the ocean surface," he said. "These air bubbles are created by breaking surface waves and in ship wakes. They are important for the exchange of gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide between the atmosphere and ocean." In addition to climate issues, these gas transfer processes are important for zooplankton and fish survival in the ocean. In related research, Trevorrow examines new acoustical techniques and instruments for measuring fish and zooplankton abundance.
