Non si sono mai visti dei cattivi così violenti e, letteralmente, *paurosi*, neanche in un film dell'orrore. Non si erano mai visti dei combattimenti così. Non si era mai visto un FILM, così. Tremo ancora, di terrore e di gioia.

Fortunatissimo esordio di Tarantino (che avrebbe dovuto girare come primo film la sua sceneggiatura di Una vita al massimo , poi filmata da Tony Scott), abilissimo sceneggiatore patito del pulp e del cinema di serie B ma anche regista sopraffino e attore squisito (almeno qui), con un film che saccheggia con gusto e cultura cinefila dozzine di altre opere ( Cani arrabbiati di Bava, soprattutto, nonostante pochi lo riconoscano, City on fire di Ringo Lam e il cinema orientale tanto amato, Rapina a mano armata Il colpo della metropolitana per l’idea del soprannome “cromatico” dei protagonisti) ma che riesce a rivitalizzare in maniera epocale un genere come il noir poliziesco: da Le iene saranno il suo stile urlato, la sua violenza paradossale e i suoi dialoghi deliranti (la disquisizione iniziale su una canzone di Madonna e sul significato del lasciare la mancia al ristorante, ma soprattutto l’ironica discettazione sulla scelta del nome fittizio) ad aver fatto scuola e a essere copiati a man bassa da personalità molto meno dotate e intelligenti. Cinematograficamente parlando, è ugualmente un saggio di messinscena, dove - a un’unità di tempo, luogo e azione - corrisponde una struttura a flashback e un’aggressività (fisica e verbale) che cerca di scardinare, per contrasto, la staticità teatrale della vicenda e la claustrofobia del pessimismo filosofico di Tarantino.

    Extractions: Ad ogni modo, al di là della certezza che due film equivalgono anche a due biglietti al botteghino, trovandosi di fronte al Primo Volume di "Kill Bill", non risulta poi così difficile comprendere ed apprezzare fino in fondo una tale e riuscitissima scelta, benché questo ne abbia ulteriormente ritardato l'uscita.
