Hertzler, Andy Robinson and most especially Sid. I also was lucky enough to draw celebrity tables for both dinner (Rene) and lunch (J.G.) Everyone was so very nice, down to earth and easy to talk to. Also, they didn't rush you. Friday evening - I enjoyed socializing in the club suite and watching the DS9 videos. I felt right at home. Saturday morning - I socialized in the club suite and bought lots and lots of wonderful photographs. Saturday afternoon Saturday night - I sat at Rene's table for dinner. He immediately noted that once again he had an all female table. Rene told us how much he enjoyed his computer lately. He recently started using the computer to Sunday morning - There were not too many of us early risers. I like to sleep in but woke up at 6:45 am and could not get back to sleep. I was too excited about seeing Sid. I was number 30 so around 9:45 am I went to the lobby to join the autograph line. The line was slow, but no one minded because they knew the actors, particularly Sid, took time with each fan. I saw J.G. first. He liked to joke around. Melissa Lowery was in front of me. She was talking about the Sid City website - that she was the owner/creator and I was her assistant there. J.G. began to proclaim in a loud voice how he visited the Sid City website "ten to fifteen times every

What sold me on his personality was when he was talking about his red jacket and he pulled the sleeve down to almost his knees! It was so funny! I think Sid is the MOST fan friendly actor I have met in a looong time! When the autograph line came up I was star struck... That doesnt happen to me much and he was so gracious! His warmth of personality shines through! I had a great time! I guess I should have added to the bit that I am in the medical profession and the dr's of star trek through all the series have had such an impact on my choices in life as well as my new husband who I met on aol 7 years ago through star trek chat! Star trek seems so ingrained in me!! Huntington Convention - November 2000

Extractions: The great Faith just sent in some info about the whereabouts of some of the Trek stars after yesterday's premiere of the DS9 finale, which she'd heard from a friend: A friend of mine was entertaining friends at Barney's Beanery, a famous eatery in West Hollywood, and called me to tell me that Nicole deBoer, Tim Russ, and some friends of theirs (people in the crew?) were also there. So that's where many of the cast and crew must have gone after the premiere in Beverly Hills. Thanks go out to Faith for this!

Extractions: March 30, 2001 Report by Marguerite Krause Dinner on the Promenade took place on the Friday evening of "Grand Slam" weekend. Like previous Weekend on the Promenade and similar events organized by Gayle Stever over the years, Dinner on the Promenade provided a wonderful opportunity for members of various fan clubs and their friends to visit with our favorite actors and production people in a relaxed, intimate setting (a welcome contrast to the usual convention scene, where huge crowds of fans and hours of autograph lines are the norm), and to raise money for charity by auctioning off memorabilia donated by the guests of honor. There were about 60 fans present. The special guests included Big River Until close to 6:00 there were only 15 or 20 fans present, which was starting to make Gayle really nervous-she had a list of all the people who had registered, and they had already paid for dinner, so she wasn't worried about losing money on the food. But we needed a decent crowd if we were going to raise any money for charity with the auctions. Finally the rest of the party started to arrive in big clumps - it turned out that traffic on the nearby highway had slowed to a standstill for a while, and that was where everyone had been stuck.

Quark Speaks Speaking of which, you will be meeting kitty swink this weekend. kitty has appeared in DS9 and Babylon 5. She also happens to be my wife of 16 years. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/5209/trek/armin.htm
Extractions: OK, Everybody asks about the makeup, so let's get that question out of the way. It currently takes 2 hours to apply the makeup. It used to take 4 hours on The Next Generation, and that's just part of the 16 hour days on the set. How closely does the character of Quark compare with the actor? Actually, there are major differences. You may recall that I played the character Pascal in "Beauty and the Beast." I'm really closer to Pascal in personality and character. I keep hoping that we will be able to move more deeply into Quark's character in the future. What's really been great about Star Trek is its focus on issues: racism, sexism, relationships. Speaking of which, you will be meeting Kitty Swink this weekend. Kitty has appeared in DS9 and Babylon 5. She also happens to be my wife of 16 years. You might also like to know that two weeks ago Sid and Nana got married in London; their baby is now 6 months old. What's your favorite episode? Little Green Men. It was a tough shoot. It took a full week, 7 days. Jim Connelly directed and he can be a bit of a martinet. He knows what he wants and he doesn't really like discussion. It was hard on him working with us. Max and I like to get hold of the script early and rehearse at home. This is unusual. We like having the scene all worked out, but if the director has other ideas, there can be clashes. In a full script, where a lot is happening, there's no time for pausesand pauses are important in the timing, the pace, the emotional buildup of a scene. But we had a lot to cover in Little Green Men, so we had to keep the action moving. I also liked "House of Quark" and "Business As Usual."
