Dalí I was born in 27th August London, England. My father is English and my mother is German. We moved to Canada when I was very young so even though I have a British passport I feel as though I am a Canadian. I went to school in Toronto and grew up around the High Park area. I worked as a model in my teens but was not really that good at it. I did some runway shows (as I was already 6ft tall at 16. Yikes..) a bit of magazine work and some commercials. I am very lucky and have done a lot of traveling. My mother is a flight attendant for Air Canada and I had many cheap airline tickets thrown my way. I especially loved Australia. I speak German and spent most of my summers in a town outside of Cologne in Germany (with my beloved grandmother Kai). Who I named my production company Kai Productions after. I settled down for two years back in London in the 80's (going back to my roots I guess) and enrolled at London's Central School of Drama. I studied there and did lot's of hanging out.

Extractions: January 24, 1999 I'd been forewarned from people who had seen Claire Stansfield at San Francisco that she looks nothing like Alti. Wow, were they right. Claire is tall, statuesque, young, and gorgeous. And today, was wearing a lot less than Alti usually wore - black leather pants (apparently the fashion choice of the weekend) and a button-down shirt that she took quite literally - it was buttoned way down. Just to make sure everyone knew who she was, she greeted the crowd with a raspy, hunched-over "I'm... Alti ," but then switched into her regular, everyday, talk-on-the-phone voice and started having a ball with the audience. Claire originally auditioned for the role of Morrigan for Hercules, but didn't get the part. Then they sent her the script for Sin Trade and only told her that there was a role they wanted her to play. She read the script and bypassed the described "old hag, bag of bones" Alti and instead reached the description of Cyane, Queen of the Amazons, and figured, "Yeah!" Whoops! Alti's dark and demonic voice was Claire's brainchild. She was a bit timid with it at first, but after the first take or two, said that Lucy came to her and told her "Claire, just own it. Be this person," and after that she threw herself into the character full-tilt.
Extractions: Pasadena , California: 5 May, 2001 Claire set the tone for her appearance the moment she stepped onto the stage. Her first words were "Creation always tells me I'm not allowed to swear, but I gotta tell you: I fucking love you guys!" The crowd cheered enough to shake the seats, and we were off! Like some of the other guests, Claire brought a gift for the fans: a tape-recorded message of Danielle Cormack and Kevin Smith saying hi to the convention crowd. It was hard to make out much that was said through the sound system, but it was still a neat idea. Claire offered an apology early on, apparently afraid that fans may have been upset by their portrayal in Send in the Clones. "For anyone who took any offense to Clones, we didn't mean anything by it!" In Clones, Claire took particular joy in getting to do her own driving of Alti's car. She was let loose in the junkyard and just told to go for it. "Doing doughnuts in a muscle car when you're allowed is so much fun!" Claire was very reminiscent about her part in this show. She spoke about how much the show has given to her, in terms of being proud of being big, of standing up straighter. She said she "didn't have the strength to play Alti at first," but because of Lucy's encouragement and the show's pride, she's grown into the role. "Alti gave me some balls," she summed up.

Extractions: Pasadena Center Just like Hudson, Claire checked herself out using the camera and big screen behind her, and discovered to her dismay that her skirt was see-through! She swore like a truck driver, to the cheers of the audience when, after saying Creation probably wouldn't have her back, "Aw, fuck 'em!" Of course, she was asked to do the Alti voice, and she obliged. One young girl asked her if doing the voice hurt, and Claire said no, only after a long session of "looping" (voice over dubbing). She wore a tight gray knit skirt, and well, you could tell she was "au naturel" underneath it. She said she's enjoying working on her own small independent films, and that she just finished one with Alexandra, and Lucy did a little voice-over for it. Alex came out on stage, all smiles and warmth, thanking us for giving her the chance to be a part of things. She said it was rare in the life of an actor to get feedback directly on their work - she was glad to come to the convention because it allowed her to feel appreciated. The worst thing about the job for her: wearing those skimpy outfits in the cold and having to look like you're NOT completely freezing.

Extractions: What you'll find here: Same great location as last year, but I missed the Chat House get-together this time. :-( Claire was tall (6'1"), and elegant. She was funny, charismatic, and though nervous about appearing in front of so many folks, she made a great impression on all of us. She had very interesting things to say but the filming of AITST, including the scene at the end of the second ep where she and Lucy had to be harnessed up and slung from cranes in order to film the flying spirit battle in the trees. Contrary to her screen character, Claire's voice was very clear and melodic. Apparently, she did quite a bit of prep for playing Alti, including roughing up her voice prior to shooting, so she would have that nasty rasp when she talked. Creation's Sharon Delaney spent quite some time with us, sharing slides from upcoming eps in season four. There were quite a few interesting scenes, most from Xena, but some from Hercules. Widow Twanky (played by Michael Hurst) will be paying another visit to HTLJ this season, and we'll see Xena and Gabrielle travel to India to explore their spirituality.

Extractions: Claire Stansfield and Danielle Cormack at the Dortmund Comics Fair. When it comes to meeting the stars of their favorite TV series, German Xena fans so far have not been very fortunate. Major conventions usually take place on the other side of the planet and - since the German fandom is rather small - the chances of luring actors or actresses from the show into the country have been fairly slim - until now, that is. For this year brought major improvements: With three conventions held in the UK, the chances of meeting actors or actresses from Xena: Warrior Princess increased considerably. And things got even better when Claire Stansfield announced that she would appear at the International Comics Fair in Dortmund (North Rhine-Westphalia). It is quite telling that only a few incurable optimists within the German Xenite community really believed that the actress would actually show up. When Claire informed her fans two days before the event on her website that Danielle Cormack would come to Dortmund as well, the ensuing enthusiasm among the fans was still mixed with considerable disbelief. However, those fans who turned up in Dortmund on October 22 were not disappointed! At 11.00 AM Danielle Cormack, (despite suffering from jetlag, having arrived only a day before from New Zealand) and Claire Stansfield were on stage, ready to sign autographs and to answer the fans' questions. Since the number of fans who made it to the event was relatively small, those who turned up had ample opportunity for conversations with the two actresses who patiently answered questions and posed for photographs throughout the afternoon, apparently enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the event. They even agreed to an interview with the German Xena Fanclub DXF - and amidst a popping of flashbulbs and an ever-growing circle of Xena fans, we sat down, gave them our presents and started the interview.

1999 HX Convention Report claire stansfield, One lady who knocks everyone s socks off when she appears is claire stansfield, known as Alti. Our audiences just love her look that is http://www.creationent.com/past_events/hx_events/con99/hxcon99.htm
Extractions: CONVENTION REPORT As you know Creation has been organizing conventions for fans since 1971 and in all that time there has been just a handful of productions that have warranted a full scale touring convention. In these three decades we've run gatherings for fans of STAR TREK, THE X-FILES, DR. WHO, the CBS TV series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and a couple of others. The Hercules and Xena Convention is very special to us, however, because we have had the gracious and unprecedented support of the studio that produces the series, the casts of the shows, and the production company involved. It's really been a team effort that is dedicated to presenting a fun weekend for fans and with that in mind we'd like to thank all for their help with the 1999 version of our "big" H/X event, this time presented at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. The first two years of the event were held at the Burbank Airport Hilton and it was obvious that the convention was outgrowing that venue. Still, it was with a bit of sadness that we left that facility because it did allow for a more intimate celebration. But the demand to see the stars was clearly indicated by the hundreds of turn-away customers both years. So in 1999 we landed at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, running our very first event there. With 3,000 seats we had more room, a beautiful stage setting with theatrical appearance, and even outside areas to work with. So it was with great anticipation that we began the show and we were thrilled that stars Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless agreed to be our headliners for the weekend. Kevin was unavailable last year so it was particularly nice to have him back.
