Extractions: TAMPA, Fla. Martin St. Louis was hoping for an offensive breakout. He didn't expect anything like this. St. Louis scored two of the Tampa Bay Lightning's team-record three shorthanded goals and assisted on the third to help them beat the Boston Bruins 4-2 Saturday night. Tampa Bay had managed only three goals in its last three games combined, and has gone scoreless in its last 18 power plays. "We're going to take it any way they come right now," said St. Louis, who has five goals three shorthanded in his last five games. "They're tough to come (by) as of late. You might see three power-play goals, but it hasn't been that way for us." St. Louis became the first player with three shorthanded points since Nov. 18, 2000, when Marian Hossa and Radek Bonk each did it for Ottawa against Florida. The NHL record is four, set by Keith Tkachuk on April 7, 1995, for Winnipeg against Vancouver. "We try to kill penalties aggressively," Lightning coach John Tortorella said. "We try to get down the ice. There were some opportunities that we had the puck with some ice. We scored some important goals."

Extractions: Martin Short, who starred on Broadway in The Goodbye Girl and Little Me , will return to that street in an as-yet-unnamed one-man show, the New York Times reported. The Times described the April arrival as a "play with music," and intimated that Short will be reprising some of his more familiar characters including Ed Grimley and other creations from his "SCTV" and "Saturday Night Live" days, as well as his later cable creation Jiminy Glick. The venture will have an impressive Broadway pedigree: it was created by Short and the Hairspray writing team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. The Times reported that the show was inspired by Short's annual Christmas party. "It's like old-fashioned Hollywood with Marty sitting on a piano and acting like Judy Garland," Mr. Shaiman said. Short recently starred in the Los Angeles debut of The Producers as Leo Bloom.

Extractions: from a master manipulator BY GARY MORRIS Movies have so much in common with dreams that one of Hollywood's most enduring nicknames has been "the dream factory." Of course, there's a downside to every dream, and something closer to the nightmare evolved alongside the safe thrills and romantic fantasies of cinema from the beginning. While some audiences were mesmerized by the novelty of early filmmaking, others bolted at the sight of a giant cinematic locomotive steaming fearlessly toward them. And this trend never really let up. In the '70s, stoic theater managers had to spread kitty litter in the aisles at screenings of The Exorcist to catch patrons' vomit as they stormed out of the theater. Even supposedly seasoned audiences can still be frightened by the power of 24 frames per second: witness the queer stampede from Todd Verow's grim Frisk at the Lesbian and Gay Film Festival a few years ago, or war vets' tales of grisly flashbacks at screenings of

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Martin Behaim Visit New Advent for the Summa Theologica, Church Fathers, Catholic Encyclopedia and more. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02391b.htm
Extractions: Home Encyclopedia Summa Fathers ... B > Martin Behaim A B C D ... Z (Martinus de Bohemia) His influence on the great discoverers of his time was formerly much overestimated; at present it is questioned whether he had any such influence at all. It cannot be proved either that Columbus was stimulated by him or that Magellan (Magalhaes) in his search for a southern passage made use of a chart of the world drawn by Behaim, as was once believed. It has even been questioned of late years whether Behaim had any right to call himself a pupil of Regiomontanus or whether he had taken part in the discoveries of Cam. Nevertheless his "apple", the oldest of all existing globes, ensures his lasting fame. The globe is about twenty-one inches in diameter and has no network to mark longitudes and latitudes. It is provided merely with the equator, one meridian, the tropics and the constellations of the zodiac, and is a unique example of miniature painting. There is an unmistakable connection between Behaim's manner of representing the world and the geographical views of Toscanelli Von Murr
Martin Buber Brief biography of martin Buber. http://www.emanuelnyc.org/bulletin/archive/34.html
Extractions: Martin Buber (1878-1965) - philosopher, story teller, pedagogue - was born in Vienna. Descending from a family line of brilliant scholars - his grandfather, Solomon Buber, wrote many critical editions of midrashic literature - Buber studied at universities in Vienna, Leipzig, Zurich, and Berlin. Imbued with the philosophy of Zionism, Buber began to edit the Zionist weekly publication, Die Welt ( The World ) in 1901. However, his cultural and educational understanding of Zionism conflicted with Theodor Herzl's political Zionism, and Buber eventually resigned his position. Still in his twenties, Martin Buber became involved with Hasidism. He tried to translate the tales of the renowned Rav Nahman of Bratslav into German, but decided instead to retell them in his own narrative form. The resultant Hasidic Tales earned Buber an excellent literary reputation. He also penned scholarly works on the historical movement of Hasidism, including Hasidism and Modern Man and The Origin and Meaning of Hasidism. Martin Buber was a remarkable social activist. He helped establish the Jewish National Commission during World War I in order to help better the lives of Eastern European Jews. In 1933, after Hitler's rise to power, he became director of the Central Office for Jewish Adult Education, which became an increasingly significant position after Jews were prohibited from attending public schools. In 1938, he immigrated to Palestine, where he taught social philosophy at the Hebrew University and served as leader of Ihud, a movement which advocated Arab-Jewish cooperation in a bi-national state.
Round Dance Server -> Notation For Cue Sheets short answer. Round dancing is partner dancing, similar to ballroom, except with the steps choreographed and cued, so there is *much* less emphasis on lead http://www.round-dance.de/WhatIsRoundDance.html
Extractions: Short answer: Round dancing is partner dancing, similar to ballroom, except with the steps choreographed and cued, so there is *much* less emphasis on lead and follow. Popular in US Western square dance club settings. Longer answer: Round dance may be described as a choreographed ballroom dance. Round dance clubs have a "cuer" who uses a microphone to tell dancers what to do, much like a square dance caller, but instead of a square dance, they are doing a pre-choreographed ballroom dance routine. Actually, in the early days of round dancing, the routines were memorized, and apparently, there are still a number of dancers on the west coast that still do so. Teachers have usually memorized routines for presentation at conventions such as the National Square and Round Dance convention, the Universal Round Dance Council convention, and at state conventions. However, this is starting to change. More and more teachers are doing demos with cues recorded on tape or mini-disc. The dancers like to hear the cues while they watch the dance. Another answer: Round dancing uses ballroom steps, but the leader (called the cuer) calls out the steps to be done in a manner similar to the way that a square dance caller tells the square dancers what to do. Thus, all of the couples are going around the floor doing the same steps at the same time. A choreographer has chosen the steps so that they fit the piece of music being played.
