Extractions: Story by Janette Hyem, taken from the 6th Edition, 1990 In 1976-1980, Regehr trained for a spot on Canada's Olympic Boxing Team, but he chose to pursue acting instead. Doing all his own stunts, Duncan is also a figure skater and an accomplished fencer. One reason for Regehr's grace is his background in Shakespearian Theatre. He performed at the Stratford, Ontario, Shakespeare Festival in "Hamlet" and "Pericles" amongst others. His previous roles include "V," "Wizards and Warriors," "The Last Days of Pompeii," and more. To get the role as Zorro was a long procedure. He had talked about doing the show two years before and at the time was tied up with Disney Studios. "At the time I was doing a film called 'Earth Star Voyager,' which should have been a series. I tried to get out of it but failed. So two years later when they asked me again, I said, 'Yes.' I just guess it was meant to be. The first episode aired in January 1990. And of course as you know, the second season started production in May. Again to be directed by Ray Austin, the British director," so says Duncan Regehr. In this season his father "changes," going from father "A" - Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. to a new father - father "B" - Henry Darrow, better known as Manolito in "High Chaparral." The likeness between the "new father" and son is uncanny to say the least. Besides the visual features, they even sound the same.

Extractions: As a hired hand on the Tunstall ranch in the New Mexico Territory in 1879, 19-year-old Billy The Kid (VAL KILMER) finally finds his first real home. When Tunstall is murdered by men out to steal his land, Billy takes revenge for the death of a man who has been like a father to him, and soon finds himself with a price on his head. Seeking advice on whether to accept the general amnesty offered after the recent Lincoln County War, Billy heads for Fort Sumner to see Pat Garrett (DUNCAN REGEHR) and arrives just in time to attend his long-time friend's wedding. He accepts a job as card dealer at Garrett's saloon and resumes his relationship with Celsa (JULIE CARMEN), a local widow and his secret lover. When Governor Lew Wallace (WILFORD BRIMLEY) offers Billy a pardon in exchange for his testimony in Tunstall's murder, Billy and Pat set out to meet with him, but not before Billy adds to his growing reputation with another gunfight. When Billy testifies in the Tunstall case, he is arrested for his friend's murder and Wallace, blocked by the corrupt prosecutor, Rynerson (MICHAEL PARKS), is powerless to come through with the promised pardon. Things look bleak for Billy until he manages to escape. Pat, meanwhile, wishing to settle down, applies to Wallace for appointment as Fort Sumner's new sheriff with the backing of leading citizen Pete Maxwell (ALBERT SALMI). He is hired and is given his first assignment - get Billy The Kid, dead or alive.
