VaderPainter :: Bringing Your Armor To Life... A Tribute to dave prowse By Robert E Bean. It was the year 1977. Summer came and my life was pretty I met dave prowse in 1997, at DragonCon in Atlanta. http://www.vaderpainter.com/DPTribute.html
Extractions: By Robert E Bean It was the year 1977. Summer came and my life was pretty much the same as every other 14 year old. Knowing my love for science fiction my sister told me of this great movie that was out. STAR WARS. I went to it the next weekend and was immediately hooked. I was not so much hooked on the story, but this one particular character, Darth Vader. And here is where my story begins Now as I said before Dave was a body builder. He towers above most people and was a big as Arnold in his day. Me, on the other hand, well, I was 5'4" tall in 1977 and weighed just over 100 pounds. Not that convincing a Vader I might add. Well I made up my mind that I wanted to be as muscular as Dave is, and as tall. The muscular I could work on, but the tall? Well that was gonna take something else. I convinced my father to get me a set of weights from SEARS and began to work out a little at a time. Years passed and finally 1985 I got a little taller, 6" in one year! I was as close as I would ever get to the height. Now on to the body. I began working out seriously for years, in 1991 I was pretty big, I must admit though my drive at this time was to be big for my 10 year high school reunion, not to be a more convincing Vader. I was pretty big for the reunion and it surprised many of my old classmates, especially those that used to pick on me. I continued my devotion to working out and after a few more years had a pretty good build. Over the years my devotion to working out has only grown and I owe it all to Dave. Had he not encouraged me though his articles, fan club and interviews I would have not been likely to have the same attitude towards bodybuilding.

Extractions: Authors/Editors Cast Crew Interview With Dave Prowse The Man Behind the Mask of Darth Vader Dateline: Monday, June 01, 1998, 6:00pm EST By: T'bone Dave Prowse IS Darth Vader. He played the part of what is arguably known as the greatest on-screen villain of all time. Though going mostly unnoticed compared to the other actors and hidden behind a black mask, he gave a persona to Vader that you cannot deny. The way he walked and moved and paced - everything. I maintain Dave's website which therefore put me in a position close enough to him to squeeze an interview out of him. He has been pretty tight lipped on the internet thus far but he's slowly opening up. You can also find this same interview on on his official site. And now, here's my little chat with Dave (Darth Vader) Prowse. Enjoy! Tbone: Dave, out of all three Star Wars films, which one is your favorite and which was the one you liked least?

Dave Prowse As The Green Cross Man dave prowse had a long and accomplished acting career not only was he the muscley manservant in A Clockwork Orange and the physical presence of Darth Vader http://www.toysrgus.com/images-speci/harper/prowse-greencross.html
Extractions: David Prowse as the Green Cross Man Dave Prowse had a long and accomplished acting career: not only was he the muscley manservant in A Clockwork Orange and the physical presence of Darth Vader, he was the Green Cross Man , perhaps the only super hero ever tasked with the responsibility of keeping the crosswalks of the world safe from reckless drivers. From Dark Lord of the Sith to a spokesman for pedestrian safety, oh how the mighty have fallen. I love how Prowse is shown dynamically looking both ways before crossing the street. And, as Chris Harper astutely points out, these drawings make Prowse look a bit like Sylvester Stallone. Laugh at if you must, but if it weren't for the Green Cross Man, chances are a truck would have run you over years ago. Back to Index
David Prowse In Gothenburgh He wrote dave prowse is Darth Vader and if you wanted, a little dedication, but disapointing he hadn t any time to write any lines from the movie. http://www.algonet.se/~famgreby/prowse.htm
Extractions: On 28th of April me and my pals went to Gothenburgh to see and meet David "Darth Vader" Prowse. He was signing autographs at a place called Movie Art . A real good movie store with a lots of Star Wars picture and so. Before he started to sign different things I saw him walking to an interview at Movie Art. I imagined him as a big, big man but I was suprised that he wasn't that big as i thought. Later on he started to sign. It costed $12,50 with an autograph plus a picture and with that a free autograph on an own item. Just an autograph on an own item costed $6,25. He wrote "Dave Prowse is Darth Vader" and if you wanted, a little dedication, but disapointing he hadn't any time to write any lines from the movie. As you can see i got my own dedication.

Dave Prowse David Prowse parlayed a reputation as the best-known 'heavy' in modern British show business into the role of Darth Vader and became a symbol of villainy for a whole generation of film-goers. "Darth's the bad guy," he smiles at the thought. "And everyone knows it." Prowse began as a weightlifter and bodybuilder, winning the British championship for three consecutive years. Offered a part in a play ( Don't Let Summer Come ), he retired from lifting iron and moved into lifting audience's eyes. "I starred in a Bond film, Casino Royale ," the six-foot- seven actor remembers. "I played the Frankenstein monster." A series of monster parts followed, most of them for the great Hammer Films company of England. "I did Horror of Frankenstein , then Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell ." The smile reappears. "Finally they let me take the makeup off in a thing called Vampire Circus The films attracted the attention of filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, who offered Prowse a meatier part albeit one with some physical challenges:
